3.1cutlass Posted May 29, 2007 Report Share Posted May 29, 2007 Ok so yesterday my alternator died. So it has been replaced. Now it idles like well shit. When i stop in gear it wants to die, when i start it it wants to idle up higher then normal and then settles down. I did the idle relearn thing and it didn't seem to accomplish anything. HELP! I always find after I did the relearn it still wasn't 100%, but overtime it's figure itself out...by the sounds of it you didn't do the relearn properly though. 1. Pull ECM fuse, replace it after a couple seconds 2. Start car and put it in gear with all the accessories OFF 3. Hold it in gear for 5-7mins (I normally do 6 mins as a happy medium) 4. Shut off car after 6 minutes. (Ialways shut it off in gear, dunno if it matters) 5. Repeat steps 2-4 again. 6. Idle should be learned.
