MAP Sensor location?

My hackjob '96 intake installation (sorry, Sean :lol:) has two sensors. There's one on the manifold, which is definitely a MAP sensor:

And one on the intake arm which I have no idea what it does, or is supposed to do on the '96-'97 motors:

what the hell? why is there one on the intake arm too? it cant measure manifold pressure can it? The one is the first pic seems right to me, of course the only lq1 ive seen was my ole 91 Z. the second one looks like a MAF.

weird GM, just weird.

Well, I got my MAP sensor on, you know I borke the old one and it got stuck inside the arm.. I got it out though, thank god for plyers.....and I put my EVAP sensor on too, good night for thr Lumina. :biggrin:

I guess it's not really that important since the MAF is what's determining the fuel being sent in.

The MAF on the plenum is where its at on the 91-95 3.4's.

 

The true 96's get it on the intake arm....

The 91-95's don't have MAF's. I guess you're referring to the MAP.

 

The 94-95's do, either fuck emissions....
