92chevyeuro Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 How do i know if my steering rack is going bad? When im driving along and i hit a pot hole or a groove in the road, the steering wheel will jerk right or left with whatever i hit. It only started doing this recently. It also feels like there is more play in the steering than usual. If it is the steering rack going bad, are they expensive to get replaced? Im thinking the car wont even be worth getting it fixed. Thanx. Quote
Q-Ball Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 I had something like that and it was both of my outer tie rods. But all I need now is an alignment. Quote
Crazy K Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 mostely likely it is a tie-rod or ball joint. and anyhow, a bad rack is no reason to junk a car if it is otherwise good. Quote
Q-Ball Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 Yeah definitly check those out. They arent even hard to replace. Cheap too. Quote
