Taz1959 Posted June 16, 2025 Report Posted June 16, 2025 I have a 97 Chevy Lumina LS with 16" aluminum wheels a guy has 1999 Pontiac GT 16" wheels for sale can I put them on without any problems I made the mistake of buying 4 wheels from a Pontiac Grand Prix from 2002 and found out the wheels hit the front calipers. Tire man said to get them on I needed spacers which I think would be dangerous. My brother said threads are not gonna reach bolts to snug with spacer on. Quote
pwmin Posted June 16, 2025 Report Posted June 16, 2025 Which 2nd gen W wheels? Offset is a lot more positive on the 2nd gens than 1/1.5G, so they'll sit in farther. They usually "fit" IME, but obviously not always. I like it the other way around (1G wheels on 2G's) Quote
55trucker Posted June 16, 2025 Report Posted June 16, 2025 '99 GP is the same suspension platform as the '02..........you'll be SOL pwmin 1 Quote
Taz1959 Posted June 16, 2025 Author Report Posted June 16, 2025 So what other wheels will fit my 97 Chevy Lumina in the GM wheels family? Quote
55trucker Posted June 17, 2025 Report Posted June 17, 2025 Any stock wheel from the Gen 1/1.5 family, the car fitted with drums at the rear? Quote
pwmin Posted June 17, 2025 Report Posted June 17, 2025 Stock is +25mm 7" wide (8" for "crosslace" wheels like in 55trucker's attachment) for 1/1.5, +43 for 2/3. Anything +25mm, 5x115. You can use spacers if you put in longer wheel studs. Quote
Go4DaMo Posted Saturday at 02:48 AM Report Posted Saturday at 02:48 AM I would think bolt-on spacer adaptors would be simpler than replacing 20 studs. rich_e777 and Psych0matt 2 Quote
pwmin Posted Saturday at 02:33 PM Report Posted Saturday at 02:33 PM Except you can't get any under 1" Quote
Psych0matt Posted Saturday at 03:00 PM Report Posted Saturday at 03:00 PM I've been running the plate style spacers for years, but I think they're 5/8, so really not enough to make much of a difference in this case. Mine were mostly to make up for the hub bore difference, bonus of the fitment being better Quote

I have `99 GTP rims on my `94 Cutlass Supreme, you`ll need at least 1/4 clearance on the front to clear the calipers. I bought a pair off the shelf at Autozone that work great and I didnt need to get longer studs or replace the lugnuts at all. Even transferred the Oldsmobile center cap over to the Pontiac wheels. It gives the impression those 2G GTP rims are wider like the TGPs and I have to make that match on the rear to make it all look "right". Quote
