Should I go back to stock?

Go back to stock head unit?

  1. 1. If you had an '89 Olds Cutlass, what HU would you prefer?

    • Stock factory cassette radio
      8
    • 2006 Pioneer DVD double DIN HU with 7" touchscreen
      1
    • Neither, I'd put something else in it entirely.

Hearing loss is obviously not great! And your condition of Meniere’s is unfortunate indeed. I’m sure you’ve looked at things to help. Are you aware the alpha lipoid acid supplements will help help to protect the hearing in the case of Meniere’s? I wish you the best with this.

Factory all the way for me. But I did upgrade to CD from cassette, a factory correct unit, in my 94 CS

Finally committed (a year later) to go back to stock.

Debating whether I should remove the 4ga amp wire while I'm in there.  It runs through the factory grommet and inside the door sill trim with the rest of the factory wiring.  Underhood, there's just a red wire neatly wire-tied to the cruise control cable and disappearing into the firewall.  The end underhood is a ring terminal tucked away, so you can't see where the end actually terminates. There is no longer a fuse or length of wire going to the battery terminal or positive jump start terminal.  Personally, my amps & subs days are long over.  I'm not sure if anyone who would buy a vintage W-body would still be into amps & subs.  I'm already pulling trim to remove the 20yr old DVD navigation I've got in it, so it's not a ton of extra hassle.  2 of 2 AIs are telling me this:

Right now, that loose 4-ga amp wire sends a subtle signal: this car has been messed with electrically.

Bottom line, both say to pull it.

Agree?  Disagree?  I know if someone did want amps & subs, leaving it would save them a whole lot of trouble.
