Imp558
On my first gen I have to remove the OFA to have enough clearance to pull the engine, is there enough clearance on a second gen or should I leave it off the new engine until installed? Will my L67 flywheel bolt to torque converter the L36 is currently bolted to? I'm going to leave the stock 4T65 in there for now.
l67ss
You'll either need to slot the holes on l67 plate or run l67 converter. There is room to pull with ofa but is still worth pulling off first. Imp558
Imp558
Thanks Bro, I suspected both but now I know. Awesome 4 minute response time too! I love this community.
Imp558
Did different cars get different stall converters? Like H body vs W body or whatever the Riv is?
l67ss
Nope. All with same engine option should have same converter. Say if donor was a 98 riv just use the converter from that
l67ss
One advantage I found on topswap is l36/26 flexplates are drilled for both converters
l67ss
Have to use l67 plate with l67 short block tho
Nas Escobar
Did different cars get different stall converters? Like H body vs W body or whatever the Riv is? The Rivi is a FWD G body. It's the same platform as the Aurora.
Imp558
Yeah, the L67 flywheel is balanced to an L67. I wasn't sure the 4T65 had the same input shaft spline as an HD. I'm going to buy a whole HD fw $200 from a running car this week so that'll give me a converter. This would be a fun place to post a pic of my "3800 Only!" modified engine stand, lol. l67ss
Yeah internally 4t65s are the same. In fact over on gpf l36 converter swap was a popular fad lol
Nas Escobar
Was the stall better on the L36 converter or something?
l67ss
I think it was a couple hundred rpms higher
Turbocharged3800
One advantage I found on topswap is l36/26 flexplates are drilled for both converters only the later models, around 00/01+
l67ss
All the ones I've seen were dual drilled. As far back as
digitaloutsider
They're definitely not all drilled. The L36 I put in my '98 Regal did not have a dual drilled flex plate. White93z34
White93z34
I've seen them both multi drilled and single drilled. Best advise I have is to verify on a per application basis.
