billfrank85
82,xxx miles. Just did fluid and filter change. 7 quarts MaxLife "full synthetic" Dex3 compatible ATF, Acdelco trans filter (replaced seal too), Transgo shift kit (new springs and spacers in accumulator). Also added Lubeguard ATF protectant and Tcc shudder fix. Before all that, shifts were slow and sloppy when warm and had tcc shudder as well. Shifts beautifully now but sometimes when taking off from a stop it hesitates for a brief second then slams into gear and takes off like normal. It's not an incredibly harsh slam but very noticeable. I noticed some people say you need 8 qts when dropping the pan so I may just be low, haven't been able to check yet. Would anything else cause this? Do I need to disconnect battery perhaps to reset adaptive parameters?

billfrank85
START with the fluid level. Yeah I'll try to drive it for a bit then check it, if I don't get snowed in. I only got 6.5 quarts out between the pan and accumulator which is why I added 7.
billfrank85
Drove about 10 minutes and checked it, it was right in the middle of the crosshatched area...between the min and max holes. Added half a quart, drove down the road and it did it again but it didn't seem as aggressive as the other day. Will check again later. jman093
The 4T65e transmission has a big problem with the pressure control solenoid failing causing that problem. There will be a stored P1811 code in the PCM if it has failed. MIL does not illuminate. But obviously if this started immediately after putting a shift kit in the trans and some snake oils in the fluid, I assume that's the issue. billfrank85
Only code was a P0420. Nothing pending. If this is an adaptive transmission, I can only hope that it is trying to adjust to the changes the shift kit made. It only usually happens once per drive that I've noticed. billfrank85
Now that I think about it, I think "slam" is probably the wrong word to use in this situation. The car hesitates for a split second and then pops forward as usual, like it's hesitant in actually engaging first.
