It's not just a *relay*,

 

there are two relays inside the control module, one is the *forward* and the second is the *back*. Seeing as the replacement motor you purchased is working I have to believe that the module has failed.

 

Did you verify that you have voltage to both the switch & to the module as well as out of the module to the motor?

No, I haven't checked any of that. To be completely honest, electrical is my least knowledgeable topic in the automotive world. I have no idea how to check that stuff. It's a little embarrassing, but also the truth. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

Clean all the connections, and verify power.

That relay box is a bit complicated, now you have the power and position switch parities.
