Thinking about picking up a 34/78 (has both top and side terminals) as a generic spare since fits at least three of my cars. They only "seem" good if they're not tested properly. Either they pass the tests and they ARE good, or they fail the test(s) and they're not. The most difficult part of this is getting someone to PROPERLY test the battery--and if you're in it that far, they might as well test the starter, alternator, and wiring harness at the same time.
