My buddy has a gm front wheel drive tranny in his parts shed. He said it was out of an 02 oldsmobile as far as he can remember. So it should be a 4t65e correct? How do I tell? Can it be adapted to my 93 lumina?

Those share some parts but no, not easily adaptable. One obvious difference is the older cases had vacuum line pressure modulators and the electronic ones were PWM solenoid controlled. Wiring is not the same, and the gear ratio may be different too. Without an OBD2 swap, I wouldn't think it's possible. With it, it'd be a nightmare unless you're taking the whole drivetrain.
