Hvac controls not illuminating on 94 Lumina

Anyone ever had a issue with the hvac controls not illuminating? The red indicators work for each switch as does the fan speed just not the illumination ones. From what I can tell they appear to be soldered in? All other illumination lights work for gauges and radio

My Regal did this, I had to get new bulbs from an electronics supply and solder them in. Could replace them with an LED and a 1k resistor to limit the current.

..if one replaces the incandescent bulb with an led it sort of negates the load saving on the circuit if one has to install a resistor to limit the amps draw.

It's more about voltage drop, a typical T1-3/4 LED is only 1.7v. Current draw is far less than an incandescent bulb. That would be a project though since it may dim different than the rest of the dash and the resistance would likely need tinkered with.

The place I got my bulbs from specialized in repairing and restoring audio equipment,  like rack system amplifiers and such.
