Hi.

First I feel really stupid, but I have nothing found in searching for the answer above my question .

Which oil should I use in my Regal ? (LH0 engine)

Usually I used 5W30 - Can you prefer recommend the Valvoline MaxLife 5w30 ?

Everybody says something else entirely - So now Im really confused !?

If there is already a thread or something else about this theme please let me know.

Kind regards from germany.

Johannes

I've used cheap oil for years just fine, but I did like valvoline max life. Anything you use is gonna be fine if you're driving it and changing it regularly

5W30 is what's recommended for our cars, as far as oils go, I personally like using Pennzoil, Castrol, or Mobil1 but Valvoline is good as well.

If you came to my store I`d recommend Castrol GTX high mileage and some Lucas fuel treatment if you use gasoline with ethanol in it like in the US. Same stuff Ive used for years and I like to use half a can of Seafoam in the oil about a week before I drain it. What does typical German pump gas consist of and what is your octane rating? Just curious.

Im changing the oil every year ! Better too much than too little.

The GTX High Mileage 5W30 isn´t available here.

And the range of lucas oil products are very small.

Also Seafoam is not available. (maybe I should use an DIY recipe ? )

Typical Gas station fuels:

Super 95 (E5) ---------- (95 Octane and 5% Ethanol)

Super 95 (E10) ---------- (95 Octane and 10% Ethanol) Dont use it at any of my cars - 2nd car is an 2012 Audi A1 TFSI

Super Plus 98 (98 OCtane)

Ultimate / V-Power... (100-102 Octane)

Ethanol 85 (85 % Ethanol) Pretty rare.

You don't have to use something for high mileage, just make sure it has sludge protection or other ingredients that help lubricate the engine. I usually just get the Normal Castrol GTX when I use Castrol. Same goes for the Pennzoil. I get the normal Pennzoil in a yellow bottle.

i don't know if your oil will have API ratings on it due to the A standing for American, but any modern(API rating of SL/SM/SN) 5W-30 would be fine.

It is pretty cheap, is highly recommended by the oil guys and also at the same shop where i will order 20 Liter ATF III oil for an tranny flush.

should be okay - or not ?

Never heard of it so I wouldn't know

Or at least I've never seen it in the US

Any 5W-30 or 0W-30 will work just fine in these engines. I personally have run over 60,000km on the same oil, a reasonably high quality synthetic with no detrimental results. There's no turbocharger in the LH0, and its a pretty easy engine overall on oil. Keep an eye, of course, on quantity, and make sure you investigate coolant leaks thoroughly as the 60 degree V6's are notorious for lower intake manifold leaks.

p.s. how fast can you make that thing go on the autobahn?
