Where are the blower motor resistors at?

'94 Cutlass Supreme - manual heat... the fan settings 1-3 have stopped working on my HVAC system, only 4 works. We checked fuses and relays last night... but were unable to locate the resistors. The Haynes manual is no help, and after 20 minutes of looking around under the dash in the passenger footwell we didn't spot anything...

Anyone have a diagram or photo?

Thanks!

Front passenger leg compartment, pull back the carpet and look up under the dash. Two 5.5mm bolts hold it in. It's a pain to reach and up near the firewall. It's sometimes easier to remove the blower motor to gain access, but it's possible to reach with it still in.

three 5.5mm(or 7/32" will do iirc) if gold colored. three 7mm if black... yes, it is against the firewall just to the left of the blower motor. four wire connector. Should be the same part on all gen 1 and 1.5 cars without full automatic hvac systems.

On the units I have seen quit was because the drainplug on the firewall clogged and the hvac box filled with water, corroding the unit. Good used ones have always been easy to grab. Do watch out for the connector being damaged if water got to the unit, I had to splice j/y connectors in on the aforementioned bad units.
