pitzel
Local parts shop has a couple cans of white engine paint on for $1 each on close-out. Fuel tank has to come out to replace the pump (weak check valve/excessive pressure bleed-off), and has a little bit of surface rust on it. Any harm in painting it? RobertISaar
i would clean the hell out of it, getting off every bit of rust...... and then use something like bedliner. high speed stones will blast away normal paint pretty quickly. pshojo
Use fuel tank paint. I'll check with local sandblaster that uses paint specific for gas tanks
1990lumi
when i put in my new tank in i put 3 layers of truck bed liner on it and went really heavy around the seam sense im in the north to help protect it from salt deposits during the winter

intern8tion9l
I used POR-15, tough stuff. X2. What a mess though! I always get it on my skin
pitzel
Yeah, its done. There was pretty much no rust on the bottom of the tank, but enough on the top of the tank (the part not even exposed to the road). Probably more worrysome was the filler neck lines were a mess. BTW, white's a pretty dumb colour, lol.
