RobertISaar Posted October 10, 2013 Report Share Posted October 10, 2013 if you go LED, don't expect any drop-in bulb to give anywhere near enough light to be even equal to an incandescent. to get better output, you NEED to pull the taillamp assembly apart and actually engineer a solution, otherwise you'll end up with something that has a good output on-center and almost nothing when more than 10* off of center. during daytime, a good chance that someone following you wouldn't see them light up. 9RegalGS2 Posted October 10, 2013 Author Report Share Posted October 10, 2013 indeed.i figured id need to actually pull the assembly.ive had those led bulbs and they suck cost 3 times as much and seem to burn out faster than a crackhead who won the lottery!it would be cool if you could use the hids from 2nd gen stealths/3kgt amd somehow place them in the housings and so an angel eye mod or something like that to it..for the rears if and when i do something to them i wanna add some sort of name badge or something over the spoiler stop lamp so when you hit the brakes the stop lamp reads something(screen name,model,etc)http://www.3si.org/forum/f11/mitsuglow-mod-559490/ thats somewhat of the idea i have kinda like a personalized plate! BS009 Posted October 11, 2013 Report Share Posted October 11, 2013 There are quite a few options for replacement LED bulbs that should have no problem being as powerful as a regular incandescent. That being said though; nothing beats a custom made LED design with a LOT of LED's. Headlamps: You can convert your headlamps to HID bulbs with a halo by buying a retrofit kit and converting your headlamps over. Taillamps: There's always the option of making something completely custom with LED's, but there's also a style of 2 door Regal taillamps that have a clear appearance but light up red. These might be harder to find now but they look really nice lit up. Good LED's should not be burning out on you at all! More than likely you'll end up using a dremel to trim the bulb opening to fit housing to make these fit, and you should also sand out the fluting inside the lense while you're in there. As far as I know nobody has attempted to do this to a 1st gen regal, but I'm sure the headlamps come apart fairly easy. I have seen these LEDs that are bright from VLEDS. They are not cheap http://www.vleds.com/v3-triton/bulb-system.html This is a vendor over on grandprixforums. They have these that ,ay work ok http://www.diodedynamics.com/store/led-bulbs/listed-by-size/3156/3157-11w-hi-power-leds.html They currently have sale for this weekend only using code FB15K for 15% off.
