Here is a more detailed outline to the process of restoring my wheels. I started out by having them media blasted. Then coated them in aircraft paint remover. After that i power washed them in hot water. Then the hard work. I sanded each lip with 120, 400, 1000 grit sandpaper. Then went over them with a super fine steel wool. After that a rubbing compound to get them to shine.

When i started

I wouldn't clear the lip, that way you can just polish any imperfections out at any given time.

I just redid the lips on my xlaces last weekend as well.

Nice work btw.

I'm curious myself, because otherwise that is blasphemy.

Call it what you want.

Very nice work Josh, how is the turbo swap going?

Very slow. I have everything i need minus the turbo and some IC piping. Everything else i own.

TOLD you to call me!!!! but looks like you are on the right path.

and DO NOT CLEAR the lip....bare aluminum must be cleared just right, or it WILL turn yellow and peel off. Spray can clear will not work.

Well they are all done. Put them on the car on tuesday. They came out GREAT. I have probably about 4 hours per wheel from start to finish in these. The tires are Sumitomo HTR + 245/50/16.
