spiderw31 Posted February 20, 2008 Report Share Posted February 20, 2008 IIRC, lifters are about $25 each (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Labor, I dunno exactly, but the cam would have to come off to do the job, and the cams would need to be retimed after that. Based on that, I would say not terribly cheap. spiderw31 Posted February 20, 2008 Report Share Posted February 20, 2008 I dunno man... somehow I don't think that is a broken rod, although not actually hearing it in person doesn't help any. You describe the sound as coming from the top of the engine, right? If so I really doubt that it is a broken rod, as that sound would be coming from the bottom end of the motor. Also, after listening to your video clip at the point where you were behind the car, it didn't really sound as though it was misfiring, and I can't imagine how it wouldn't misfire if it had a broken rod.
