ASG V8 Stage II

aight, here's a brain teaser....

suppose you had the 10K. But instead of buying and having th ASG V8 installed, wouldn't you gain the same or better performance if you had that money invested in to the 3.4DOHC? Do the same they did to the Caddy 4.9OHC "First the engine is balanced and blueprinted. This is a process where in every important tolerance in the engine is optimized to produce maximum power. The heads are decked, which helps raise the compression from 9.5:1 to 10.5:1 The Heads are ported and polished. Cooper retainer ring is embedded into the head to improve head gasket retention under higher compression. New, higher performance pistons are used. New, higher performance fuel injectors are used. Hardened crankshaft and rods are used. Finally a replacement air box for improved airflow is added."

Wat gains could you expect from doing this to the 3.4DOHC, plus other mods like complete exhaust changeover from stock to peformance?

Can I brag? lol

I got to drive the white Lumina Euro they did the stage 2 conversion in at the 2001 W-Body gathering..

Holy hell was it fun, the looks of the drivers we'd pull up next to at an intersecion were priceless when you'd rev it up, lol! I've got videos on my site under the 2001 Gathering section of us driving it. They ran terrible times at the track that year, but had the weather been cooler and slicks on the car (they only brought street tires) I know it could have gotten better than the 15.1 it pulled. BUT, I talked to adam at ASG about 6 months after that and he said they were able to get a low 14 out of it (can't remember the exact time). I'd definatly do it, but I ain't got the money.

EDIT: Forgot to add that there was plans for them to turbo the motor as well. Don't know if it ever happened though.

nah, but wat im saying is instead of getting the 8 cyl why not use the money to tune the motor up beyond believe. Im really looking forward to seeing wat i can do wit my 3.4 if not maybe later by another 3.4 car cuz i love this motor. Boost is badass but personally i dont want anything to force the engine, i want it all naturally aspired rather than have NOS or a Turbo/Supercharger. All muscle baby!

I've been looking at that site and I think those guys are really screwing anybody that coughs the money up. Multiply that by 4 and youve got a Corvette. Is that worth 1/4 of a Vette ? Did you guys check there prices for suspension stuff ? Never mind that the prices keep going up every 2 weeks ! 1800 will get you a L67 maybe even with a tranny. Hell , I bought our 97 LSS L67 60,000 miles for less than that engine. Does that engine come with leather seats , CD, sunroof & 4 tyres

Sorry guys being primarly a H body owner I was glad to see Domestic performance come around. I said about time ! Then I see the extreme capitalizm. Must be money is alot easier to come by over there on the West Coast.

HEY HEY, CMON GUYS! we part of the same family! 2.8, 3.1, sweet revving 3.4 Twin Dual Cam/DOHC, we all cut from the same cloth, well, sort of. Everyone has their own opinions and bashing motors isnt the way 2 go just because your friends sisters neighbors uncle had an issue wit it. So erase the hate and the 3.1's  Just kidding! Nah but seriously, dont bash motors just cauz you dont have, wished you had, have but wished you didnt have, etc.

Just want to point out that if it was not for the 2.8/3.1 YOU 3.4 would not exist. the block for your motor is almost the same as the one in my car (a 2.8MPFI) and your motor was designed originally froma 2.8/3.1

So, whats your point? GM saw that they could make the crapy 2.8L better. So they made the 3.1L. And then 3.4DOHC. High hp, high revving. Thats all.
