  1. I brought this up in the 2018 Meet thread and wanted to make a separate thread once I have something. Back in 2016 I talked to a Steele Rubber Products spokesman at a car show about manufacturing brand new Convertible exclusive seals for our Cutlass Verts. I wrote a professional looking email to them mentioning that I could get a spare set to them and would be willing to lend the research team the vert for a short period of time if needed. Today I received a response and they are sending the message on up to be reviewed, while its not a yes its also not a no either. Maybe if there were enough requests for the parts they might be more inclined to reproduce them, also if you guys come across any other rubber seal companies that seem like they could make the seals let me know and I`ll handle the correspondence.
  2. Since the people here are a plethora of great information I thought I would ask my questions here and avoid reinventing the wheel. I used to be a huge car audio guy and have done many installs, but most were 20+ years ago. So I know what I'm doing, but I also know that every car has its own issues and I figured I better find them out now. I have a 95 Cutlass Convertible and am looking to upgrade the stereo (deck, speakers, sub and amps). Full setup. What do I need to know? I know that I can go double din in the dash, which is cool. Front and rear speakers, how do I get to them and what do I put back in? Any recommendations for subs? I know as a convertible I won't get great bass, but the factory speakers don't even play bass I don't think, hehe. Finally, what steering wheel adapter works best? I want to retain both audio and HVAC control, if possible, is it? Thanks in advance!
  3. 1st gen W owner, had feiro and G body back in the 80's. My 2004 Kia at 211,000 piston rings worn, instead of replacing a worn out engine with another one, I bought this car for 1100.00. I researched some before buying, but after buying this and finding out the little problems are hidden in not replacing parts, but with ecm, and other emission things...I am learning and thats why I am here.
  4. I need instructions for adjusting the quarter windows on my 1993 convertible. I've replaced the quarter window weatherstrips, which by the way thanks all for the guide to do that, but now I see that one side fits rather snug but the other side has a large gap between the weatherstrip and the glass. When I look down the side of the car I see that both the quarter window and the small triangle window connected to the convertible top are crooked and need to be adjusted outward. The same quarter window doesn't retract all the way down. I'm unable to find any adjustment info on-line so can anyone here please help, or should I just talk to a body shop. FYI, my rear seat and interior side panels are still out so all is accessible. Thanks.
  5. 3.4 V6 Runs well. I wouldn't hesitate to hop in it and drive anywhere. 118 K miles Top is very good. Everything works. Needs coil packs, new battery, and it has an intermittent problem with the torque converter lockup solenoid. Located it Big Rapids, MI Looking to get $1200 for it.
  6. 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, 102,500 miles, Triple White. Email at xennith2103@yahoo.com I bought this car in Texas and drove it back to Cincinnati in February 2012. It was in Florida originally then Texas. Since I've had it: 4 new tires and alignment, New Valve seals and Head gaskets, New timing belt, New spark plugs and wires, New Ignition switch; the old one quit detecting the chip, New Radiator, New Thermostat, New Serpentine belt, New Alternator. It's due for a new top, but the curtain is still good. It does have the boot. Of course it has minor paint issues all over and the worst of it is a scrape over the fuel filler door. I've never really had any issues with this car, I just don't drive it enough and don't have time or money to do the restore it deserves and I no longer have a garage. It's time for it to find a new care giver. I have lots of random extra parts for it. I had a parts car that I got what I thought I might need and then sold. All included if you want it: -Entire frame with pump for the top, the end of one of the pistons is broken, otherwise it's all good, -Window seals for the rear quarter windows from a Camaro or Trans Am that you can cut to fit, -Right front fender (red), -Front bumper cover (red), -Headlight assembly, -Transmission, -Random parts from the engine including the block, overhead cams, and other stuff I'm sure, -Another spare complete engine that I believe has a broken rod (from a friend's 1993 vert, he replaced his engine) -Full set of original wheels that were painted to look like the original finish, I never used them because I wasn't sure what kind of paint was used but they look pretty good, looks like a professional job.
  7. I'm a newby and I've read a lot of the various websites, plus I know these have probably been asked a thousand times but... Are there any new leads on convertible weather stripping replacement parts? Is there any way to adapt at least some of the weather stripping (in particular for the top rail) from another, more available car? Are there there any companies considering reproducing these parts? Is there a group started to approach a company to reproduce these parts?
  8. I live in Marietta GA and I have a 1995 Olds Cutlass Supreme Convertible. I removed the top myself and I tried taking it to Marietta Auto Trim for replacement and they wouldnt take the job because the top was already taken apart. Does anyone have a recommendation for a person that would replace my top without it being on the car first? Any help or info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  9. This is my 1993 Cutlass convertible and I've been tinkering around with her for a while. Figured I would post some pics. I Bought the car two years ago off of Craigslist from a guy down in New Jersey. Not well taken care of and was sitting in a backyard for a year or two. Couple of cats living in the back seat and the owner was a strange guy. This car had all the standard issues that seem to come with these cars according to what you guys talk about. In addition to a broken windshield, fading paint on the rear bumper, broken antenna and some front end damage. Was missing the lip molding on the trunk and the tape deck didn't work. Oil leak, bad brakes and wouldn't start! But it only had 83,000 miles so I bought it anyways!! Yep paid money. Perfect!!
  10. I am selling my Vert. I just dont use it enough to keep it insured. It is in good condition with minor dings. 3.4 V6. The timing belt has been changed. The rear quarter window seals need to be replaced and sometimes the torque converter lockup solenoid doesn't disengage. It is located in Big Rapids, MI. I am asking $2500 Pictures can be seen here http://centralmich.craigslist.org/cto/5164532537.html
