  3. Hi: My 2008 LaCrosse CX came with all the power accessories on it (windows, locks, seats). My early 90s Regal did not (the locks were standard, but mine had manual windows and manual seats). I didn't want to deal with any hassles. My 84 Cutlass Supreme (RWD) had several problems with both the power windows and the power seat as it got older and I was not at all happy with that. Have the power accessories on W-bodies gotten better and more reliable? I would think so. Now even more basic cars like Chevy Cruzes and Ford Focuses come with power windows standard. Any feedback from folks with W-bodies from 1995 to 2005 as to how power accessories which you couldn't work around manually (such as windows) have been holding up? Thanks.
  4. Hello Everyone! It has been a long time since I have posted on this forum. I was unemployed for at least 4 months, and during the first month of unemployment I overheated the Chevy Lumina, and I had it towed home to prevent further damage. I bought a second vehicle as the new job was going to have a longer commute time. The Lumina has sat in the garage, and I have wondered if it was worth to fix, or send it to the junk yard. I decided to keep it, and learn from what I did wrong, and so the adventure has been fun. I have removed the heads, and had them checked, cleaned and surfaced. The Lower Intake manifold gaskets were completely blown. I noticed the lower intake manifold had pitting around the coolant jackets, and I bought another one from a yard to prevent possible failure when I put everything back together. While I have the motor torn completely down. I am wanting to know how to remove the oil pan, and replace the gasket. I have read some people have suggested pulling the motor out. I am optimistic as I have read someone managed to tilt the pan in order to remove it. I have pulled the 10MM bolts that are around the pan, but still finding a way to get at the bolts on the side of the pan. The pan sits on the mount. I am looking for suggestions on the best way to continue forward to remove it. Does anyone have a write up? I have removed the A/C compressor, the Starter, the transmission bracket, Starter Fly-Wheel Cover, oil-filter windage tray, and the passenger side motor mount is un bolted. Pictures to follow soon.
  5. Hey guys im having a issue with the car, car just died taking off from the gas station and i got no spark. I got a crankshaft Sensor and im trying to figure out where it is but we checked fuses and i noticed a fuse in spot 10 which is 15 AMP IGN ( Under hood fuse box) keeps blowing everytime i go to crank after i replaced it. Any ideas on what it could be besides possible bad wiring? I got no idea what the fuse is tied to.
  6. ok i have a 2000 buick century tht needs both rear window regulators/motor n i have a 2000 chevy impala as parts car tht has all 4 good window regulators/motors can i swap them into my 2000 buick century?
  7. I'm working on a 97 Chevy Venture. I'm doing this for my neighbor who is absolutly poor. His 97 Venture Van died and someone gave him a engine for it. So I just assumed he knew if the engine was the same one but its not. Its a 3100 from a car. It appears almost the same besides just a few plug ins. It looks around the same year. Can anyone tell me if I can use the 3100 in place of the 3400 without spending much money. ?

Hello all im new just found this forum on google i just got 1994 buick regal for free i rebuilt the 3.1L V6 that was in and now im starting on other stuff like the rear suspension now i know that its like crazy hard to find a new rear spring of any kind i cant even find a good used one anywhere lol the one that is on the car right now is starting to sag and i have put gas struts on didnt really help much at all i found this kit and it says it will fit a 1992 to 1996 chevy lumina and i was wondering if anybody could tell me if it would fit on my regal too any help would be great!   9. I was tracking down the source of a leaky trunk in my 1995 Chevy Lumina. When I pulled back part of the trunk liner, I noticed some rust streaks around the strut tower. I started pushing with my fingers inside the rear wheel well, and I felt the crunch of rust. I will post the pics from my phone, and I need to know how bad it is. Thanks. Passenger Side: Driver Side:
  10. ok so, im not finding what i need, but i know this has prolly been an on-going topic on here. but ive been away from here for a while so i feel like a newb again. heres the situation, maybe someone can direct me to a thread or help me in general. i went to start my car earlier (2002 chevy impala with 127k miles on it) it stalled out for what ever reason, im not sure myself. it didnt feel like it fully started however, like it was barely running and i threw it in reverse being hasty and it died. well. then the ol ignition felt the need to stick in the acc spot so my power was stuck on and couldnt start the car. well after fighting with it i found it didnt fully go into park (sigh) but i got it all figured out and working, but now the car just wont start. the key fights me more than ever but its not even kicking the starter on (at least im not hearing anything coming from it when i had my girlfriend turn the key for me while i listened to what was going on) i know we have a recall on them, and i can get it swapped for a new one. but i kind of need to get it to where i can drive it there due to funds and how far away the dealership that can do the recall repair is. any advice anyone can give me? from the sounds of the things ive had going on with electronics, it sounds like it could possibly be the BCM. any thoughts on that as well? thanks in advance guys. any help is appreciated.
  11. I bought an engine and transmission from a 2004 Chevy Impala SS Indy 500 Edition. The engine I put into my 99 Grand Prix GTP. I was told that my GTP has a different transmission than the Impala. Now, I have found no info on any differences. The only obvious difference is the range selector switch that my GTP has isn't something the Impala came with. Is there any info anyone has on the differences between the 99 GTP transmission and the 04 Impala SS?
  12. Hi all, I own a chevy lumina for 4 yrs. My oldest daugheter drove it 2 years and now her sis will drive it 2 more; Work done to it: New spark plugs/wires,transmission fluid/filter,new IAC,LIM gasket,dummy plug o ring,fuel injector o rings,2 new headlights,new taillight,new alternator, big group 78 battery,new belts/hoses,and 4 new yokohama tires. Bought from inlaws w/ 96000 now has 105000. I also have a 2012 toyota highlander and a 2007 toyotoa yaris. I also have a "fun" vehicle a 1999 dodge dakota club cab R/T w/ 55000 org miles. Lot of work done to the dakota too! The toyotas have been fine. Minimal work done to them.
  13. Hi guys, I am a poor father of 2. I just bought a 98 Monte Carlo z34 with 109,000 at a charity auction. One owner So Ca and it seems to have sat for 2 years. I was actually able to talk to the owner prior to buying and he said he did all the maintenance (yet 2 old open recalls were not done-steering and engine fires) so I don't really know. He also said the emergency flasher button broke and the blinkers stopped working. I took the car to chevy for the recalls and an oil change Do I do a transmission flush or a change? (I know old bmw's-they say not too as they start to slip) Do I do a coolant flush or change Issues:The car gets stuck in park and I have to pull up the console cover and push down that button. The button on the shifter seems to be working fine. I read here about unplugging the solenoid. Will that work in my case? The blinkers...Any thoughts? Thanks, Steve
  14. Hey all, I apologize if this has been posted beforehand. I have my 98 Chevy Lumina 3.8L vehicle. The question is simply this: Whenever I turn the A/C on the engine makes a higher pitch whine that also changes with the speed of the engine. - It's not a squealing noise from a loose or contaminated belt. - I've checked the tensioner and it seems to be tight enough. - As stated above the whine is throughout the entire rpm range except for maybe the last 500-700rpm just before the shift, then the engine sounds more like it does when the A/C is off and accelerating. Which sounds like it may be a vacuum issue. Or possibly something else. I realize that the engine noise changes slightly because of the A/C strain on the system, but it does seem to be higher than it normally should be. If someone could help point me in the right direction in determining the source of the sound from the A/C being turned on that would be great! If more if is needed please let me know.
  15. Hello! I've had my W-body (a '94 Chevy Lumina Euro 3.1L) for about a year now. I just barely registered here, but I've visited this forum quite often and found it to be very useful. This is my car: It's my first car, and I love it! I've added a Thrush muffler and keyless entry, and I'm considering either modifying my stock air intake, or getting an aftermarket one. Advice/ suggestions for air intake and any other mods would be appreciated!
  16. Hey there, I own a 2002 Chevy Impala LS 3.8lt. This is my 3rd 1st was a 2001 Impala police package...bought it at a poljce auction, was a good car but had electrical issues cause before they sold it they remove all the police equipment and in the process cut a bunch of wires and for about 2 yrs it was a pain. Got rid of it thinkin no more Impala for me after about a year ki da missed my impala ended up getting a 2000 chevy impala base model. Learned the car in and out. Had it for about 2 yrs and sold it. Thought I wanted something different. Boy was I wrong. About 1 yr later I decided I was gonna get me another impala but this one had to be the full package Impala so I got the 2002 Chevy Impala LS. Black,All leather, Power Sunroof, power heated seats, Spoiler, Onstar,etc. It has right now 195,000 miles and still purrs like a kitten with a mean
  17. Found this site while looking for some tech advice. It looks like somewhere I would like to visit frequently. I have a teal blue 93 Olds Cutlass S with the 3.1 V6. I have had it for about 3 years and love it. I never thought I would buy a FWD car, but having worked as a mechanic for a taxi cab company that ran lots of Chevy Luminas with the 3.1, and finding out how bullet-proof these engines are, I decided to give one a try. I had a buddy that was in the used car business and I told him to find me something in my price range. He came up with this one-owner 93 Olds with only about 120,000 miles on it, I jumped right on the deal. It has been an awesome car. The only repair was a water pump replacement. Hope to find some good tips here and maybe I can offer some. I worked as an auto paint and body tech for many years. Good day!
  18. i was under my car (1990 chevy lumina 3.1l) today looking for a oil leak thinking it was my oil pan gasket but well my car is running i notice no oil (from what i can see) leaking from the gasket but i do notice a clean spot from this line coming out of my motor above the oil pan and between the trans under the exhaust manifold and im guessing its clean do to a leak
  19. 1999 Chevy Lumina 3.1 The grommet for the vent tube from the rear valve cover is bad. Is this something that comes with the gasket kit for the valve covers or is it included with the tube? Its causing the Lumina to almost stall and die under any load.
  20. One post on a thread of mine mentioned how sturdy 60 degree V6s can be. I've read that, too. That would mean Chevy produced V6s in W-bodies such as the 3100, 3400, 3500, and 3900, among others. That would really leave only the 3800 as the only 90 degree V6 in W-body cars. I'm thinking the Buick 3300 usually made it into older Centuries/Cieras and Skylarks of the early 90s, which were not W-bodies. (BTW, the little 3300 was a sweet little engine, which ran a little quieter than the 3800, got good gas mileage, and also lasted a long time). In all the Chevy V6 powered cars I've rented, I can honestly say that they sound "different" from a 90 degree Buick V6 and they also have a little more horsepower (211 for 3500 and 242 for 3900, versus 200 for 3800). So, what is it that makes the 60 degree Chevy V6s quieter and more dynamically balanced?
  21. Hello, I am finishing up a L67 top swap in my 1999 Chevy Lumina. After everything is back together, I realized I do not have the alternator bracket. The bracket from my original engine does not fit on this application. After look at pictures, I don't even think my alternator has the right mounting points for the bracket to be installed. Is this something I should be concerned about or will it be ok without it? Any input is greatly appreciated.. thanks
  22. Ive got a 1999 chevy lumina LTZ. The fuel pump went bad in it over the weekend. I've started the process of removing the tank. Unfortunately the tank is full and I don't feel safe dropping it without draining it. I've got the vent line unhooked but cant seem to get my siphon hose into the tank. Am I doing something wrong or does someone have a better idea. Any pointers on the whole procedure would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  23. I have checked my vacuum lines for leaks, changed my MAP, TPS, and IAC sensors. It runs and idles at 1K. But when I put it in ANY gear it stalls out. I am at a loss on what it could be. Please help. Sent from my SCH-I415 using Tapatalk
  24. 1994 CHEVY LUMINA 3.1 Is it normal for both upper and lower radiator hoses to be screaming hot? I always knew the upper hose is suppose to be hot, but I never felt the lower hose to be the same.
  25. Hey guys I have a friend with a Pontiac Grand Prix GT with the 3800. His motor and tranny are both finished. He has come across a nice deal for a 2007 Pontiac Montana or Chevy Uplander motor the 3900 and tranny with all the subframe and the computer all wiring harness for $800. Engine and tranny have both 54,000 KM only. The van got hit in the back with damage in the front. Wanted to know if this will fit in his GT ? The only thing I see that is different is that with the 3900 engine it has a 6 bolt pattern, I know because I have the Montana 2007 SV6 with the 3900 and it has 6 bolts.
