So a few days ago my starter went out at a gas station, didn't engage the flywheel just whined. Got it home, replaced the starter the next day, and it cranked right up but has a crazy loud noise/squeal/grinding noise. I don't know if this has anything to do with the noise, but I had to unbolt the AC compressor to get at the starter. It sounded like a super loud belt noise at first so I thought it was the AC pully was misaligned but after getting under the car and listening through a screw driver I'm convinced its a sound from the flywheel and the starter. I never heard of shimming a starter before today and I'm wondering if that has to do with it? Like the starter is just so close that the bendix drive shaft is hitting the flywheel? I looked and the clearance seemed a little tight but i'm not sure because this is the first time i've had a problem with replacing a starter and always just bolted it on and was done. Also I have examined the flywheel teeth before replacing the starter and they are all in good condition, and the starter is a new Duralast Gold... Anyways,,, here is the noise....
Okay, hopefully someone can help me here. I have a 95 Olds Cutlass Supreme Coupe. I am in dire need of a power window switch for it. I have searched online, every place it shows discontinued by GM. Searched local junk yards, the Cutlasses I am finding are 4 door. I have even tried local auto parts stores to no avail. Please tell me someone here has an old door somewhere that has one. Hell, I will pay you for it and the shipping!
my 97 luminas airbag light is on. i have no idea how to diagnose this problem, i've never had an airbag problem in ten years of lumina ownership.(lucky)? my code reader picks up no codes? but the light is on? i dont really want to drive it with the light on. i did hear some noise under the steering wheel a few days ago clock spring broke? ive played around with a few at the junkyard, and it did sound similar.
Sup forum, haven't been on here in years; last time I was I had a 2000 SSEi, which I sold over a year ago w/ 195k on it still running and driving. Anyhow for the last 2 years and 20,000 some odd miles I've had a 04 GP GT2, which has been a very decent ride for what I paid for it. Anyway, I got a message on the DIC after about 5 minutes of driving home from work the other day that said "CHECK GAS CAP" I just replaced the gas cap yesterday, and the message keeps coming back; mind you I dont have any check engine lights/noticeable performance decrease, just this message on the DIC. I have done a lil homework and it might be pointing toward the evap purge canister or whatnot behind the drivers rear wheelwell? Any thoughts?
