1. For anyone not aware, I had bought a TGP in October, 2013 which had a few minor needs. I was chipping away at small projects. I bought a parts car a couple months ago. On July 21, 2014, my TGP burned out due to a PMIII accumulator failure. So now the parts car has become the fixer-upper. So I will update this tread as I finish little projects. It's not in horrible condition. I may sell it soon, as I found one with lower mileage that I might pick up. Here are some pics from when I brought it home : The closer one is the one that burned, the one towards the left is the one I have still.
2. So the title pretty much says it, the fluid is coming from the brake piston and is all over the pad and the disc. I always seem to have leaky rear brakes regardless of the brand of re-manufactured or new (when they where available) parts. is there something better i am just missing? and can the tool that is used for re setting the ebrake be rented at a parts store? thanks
3. Please circle November 1st, 2014 in your calendar, that will be the last day to submit pictures. As per usual ediquette, if you have your car featured in the calendar you are expected to be buying one. I am looking into options for uber-big, uber-glossy calendars or the standard: Cafe Press regular calendars. More announcements & details to come along with an address to submit your photos to. Due to the rather large collection of photos that I have if you want one of my pics of your car (not someone elses), just contact me with the picture name. They are all numbered if you save one from the meet threads.
4.

I purchased the assembly from Rockauto Moog #513179 in May 2014 and it's bad already. I had one replaced by the dealer under warranty 4 years ago and it's still going strong. I'm getting the Moog part replaced under warranty, but for my future bearing needs I think I'll be using the dealer.

5. New in box! I have all 4 of them. They are for 1.5 gen cars, but the fronts will fit on 1st gens. Should give about 1.5 inches of drop. $40+shipping Let me know your zip code and I will try my best to get a quote for the shipping cost.
6. So late last year (2014), I had to several fixes all at once on my '95 GP SE. New hoses new radiator new alternator and a couple of small things here and there. I got all the parts and completed everything in a weekend. Afterwards, she was running just like she was before only with no leaking and more power <grunt, grunt, grunt>. Then I noticed my gas mileage dropping like a rock. I went from an avg of 22mpg to around 18mpg. At first I was baffled how anything I replaced could affect mileage so I did some research and couldn't really find anything. I even went and had the plugs and wires replaced. It was dead of winter in Michigan and I don't have access to a garage. I decided to tackle the simplest thing first. I had replaced my gad cap with a locking unit. So I decided to put the old one(original) back on, wait and see what happened. First tank of gas, my mileage jumped back up to about 19 mpg. After a while it has continuously climbed and is now around 21.59 mpg. Of course it all depends on my driving habits and stop and go traffic vs highway. So it just goes to show you, check the simple things first. Or Keep It Simple Stupid. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it.
7. So I'm going to try to work in some different venues for this year since it's the 10th anniversary, but while I research some different options, I figured we can throw together a Herrick Lake cookout meet in the meantime. For those of you that attended the last one of 2014, you may recall we tried a different approach to that one. Instead of everyone bringing something off the checklist to contribute towards the cookout, I just purchased everything we needed, and everyone just brought $5 cash to chip in towards the total cost. If that works for everyone, I think we may try that again. Keeps the planning part of it a lot easier. As for a date, how does May 30 work? MAY 30TH IT IS. OFFICIAL POST WITH INFO FOR THE MEET CAN BE FOUND HERE: http://www.w-body.com/showthread.php/81344
8. http://www.carnewschina.com/2015/03/12/spotted-in-china-fifth-generation-oldsmobile-cutlass-supreme/ Yup, believe it or not, someone actually sent a 1st gen W to China. How about that?

Coolant Elbows

My alternator tensioner started getting weak, so I replaced it with one I purchased from ZZP. When I purchased the tensioner, I also purchased the coolant elbows from ZZP. I went on a road trip, when I returned I noticed coolant leaking on the ground and the leak was coming from the elbows. I didn't think I would have to change the O rings these before installation, I thought it only applied to the Doorman elbows. Luckily no damage occurred from the lack of coolant. I upgraded to the Doorman aluminum elbows and yes I replaced the O rings before installation. ZZP elbows after removal, notice how the O rings are compressed flat. Here are the aluminum elbows that were installed and a picture of one that was installed. I couldn't get a clear picture the other one. I also replaced the upper and lower radiator hoses. Getting to the lower hose clamps wasn't easy, but I got it done and now all is as it should be.
10. So figured I'd try for one more meet (obviously at Fuddrucker's) before 2014 is through. I was thinking either December 13th, or the 20th. Thoughts?
11. At this point I'm gathering interest. Of course our guest of honour will have to be healthy enough to make the trip. This November AMY will be turning 20 years young, and I want to celebrate. Considering a trip down to Erie. Same as usual stuff, Quaker & Steak 'n Lube (We might have to make a side trip and do some photos @ Nunzi's), I think that it's more of a sit-down and eat place whereas Quaker Steak won't mind people arriving to our party late and gradually. After or before Quaker Steak, we'll visit the infamous Big Woodie's Fireworks and Karate Supply store in desperate hopes of finding Al a new shirt. Hopefully this T-shirt has Big Woodie himself on it!! Then it's off to the Erie Insurance Arena - which I can assure just about all of you . . . will be nearly unrecognizable when we visit due to an insane amount of renovations, yes this would involve going to a hockey game. Can't make any promises, but we may run into Red Mustang Nunzi while there!! More details/confirmations to follow.
12. Yea, I'm like everyone else. I having a hard time getting the lower bolt off. I removed the throttle assembly and the air housing intake, but the damn thing just won't budge. Any special tool I could use to get in there? You guys already know, there isn't much room in there. I'm having a tough time getting the wrench to stay on the nut. Not to mention getting enough torque due to the little space.
13. Click here to purchase a calendar: http://www.cafepress.com/cp/customize/product2.aspx?number=1205617539 12 month calendar only. $19.99 Congratulations to the winning entries:

15. Hi! I'm new to the forum, I was searching on and off for a forum like this for years. Only recently did I come across this one, there appears to be plenty of knowledgeable, experienced, crazy people on here. I hope to become one of them. I'll post pictures of my ride later, though I'm not proud of her appearance, she is still mine. She's a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. Currently 196.8k and runs smooth, though I suspect my lower engine support needs to be replaced. As it stands right now I need wheel bearings and to assess my transmission leak. Other than that no major projects. I'm really into car audio but more specifically sub-stages. My current setup is a Custom Sub (Dual 2-Ohm coils) powered by a Cadence ZRS C5, seeing approx. 3500w RMS. Sorry for the scatterbrained post.. but I'm excited to finally find a forum with a plethora of information and seemingly like-minded community. Couple pics Just after my stock to H.O. Alt swap. Just after getting the rims (18") Yes my badges are missing. Winter was rough on both me and the car.. Sent from The Meth Lab

18. About this time last year we started hammering things out for the June meet. I guess I want to get the ball rolling on plans for 2014. Do we have any kinds of ideas for new events and/or a new location? We've had a really great thing going the past few years, Toledo has seen some of the most successful meets. I know there was some talk of possibly trying a new city this year, maybe Columbus, but it's all up in the air! Opinions, suggestions?

21. So I noticed I have a leak in my car and it's coming from a rather strange spot. The place where my car is leaking coolant is here in the picture. It's the pipe directly above the exhaust pipe. Whenever I move it, I notice either more or less coolant comes from there, depending on what angle I move it to. I also notice if I push those clips, it stops leaking, but as soon as I let go, it starts to leak again. Sometimes the leak is seldom, sometimes running coolant comes, just depends on where I move that pipe to. My question is how do I fix this so it stops leaking whenever it's moved. All help is appreciated.
22. I can't say I've ever read about a problem like this, so I figured I'd post it up. The other day I took the car out for the first drive in months. About a mile down the road I heard a loud pop, as if someone threw a rock at the windshield very hard; it startled me. A few seconds later, smoke started pouring out of the HUD. Not like a puff of smoke like the turn signal indicator in the column, I mean it was coming out of the screen on top, out the tilt adjuster, out from around the cluster, everywhere. It lasted a good 30 seconds, I pulled over immediately and expected the car to be on fire. Eventually it stopped and I drove it home and disconnected the battery. i pulled the thing apart and expected to see an obvious char mark where a wire grounded out or something, but no such thing. I don't remember what the insides usually look like color wise, but here's a couple pics. I think that black on the cover was always there? It didn't rub off on my hands. in a related story, I need a new HUD
23. Is this the purple wires that goes from the VSS to the ECM? I want to make sure before I run a new purple wire. I have continuity on the yellow wire, but not purple. My speedometer and cruise control don't work on the TGP.
24. Sorry for the record lateness in setting up the next meet, guys. I've just had way too much going on the last couple months. I got enough on my plate to feed a small 3rd world country. Anyway... We can do a quick meet at Fuddrucker's just to get the ball rolling for 2014. Say maybe April 5th if that works for enough people? In the meantime, while that's coming up, we can also plan a Herrick Lake cookout meet to follow within a month or so after that. Date: Saturday, April 5th Time: 12 PM - ??? Location: Fuddrucker's (World's Greatest Hamburgers) 1500 Branding Lane Downers Grove, IL Description: Meet for local w-body.com members, but all are welcome to attend! This will be a smaller event to just hang out and eat with some fellow members & enthusiasts. More of a meet and greet type event. No need to bring anything except yourself, your car and some money for food. Attendees: RareGMFan (w-body.com, gpf.net) GP40Chic (wcp.com) BrianG (w-body.com, cgp.com) Euro (w-body.com, gpf.net) Cully77 (w-body.com) rich17 (w-body.com) vyper144 (w-body.com) GP Guy 07 (gpf.net)
