    HELP!! AARRGH

Got her running boys!! Not only that, she runs tip top again!! It was timing all along. Fabbed some tools in my father in laws shop to replicate those in the Kent moore kit and worked like a charm. A big thank you to those who offered help and guidance through my first real foray into the 3.4L dohc joys and frustrations. It's been better than 12 yrs since my z34 and I never tackled projects like gaskets or timing on it. This is really a great group!!

    Aluminum dash

I had a 72 Cutlass Convertible Coupe that had an Aluminum dash instead of the woodgrain dash. I have never seen another one with this feature and have always wondered if this was a dealer option or if it is custom. Has anyone else ever seen this?
  6. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the ECT sensor on these? I found a disconnected connector by the alternator and cant find where it goes. Wires are yellow and black just like the ones going to the ECT sensor.
  7. Runs like shit once warmed up. I dont think its overheating but I have only ran it a few minutes because im worried im gonna warp a head because these have aluminum heads IMG_8060.mov

    Head Gasket material 3100 v6?

ARE they Torque-To-Yield bolts? The head bolts on my '92 and '93 3.4L DOHC engines are torque-angle but not TTY. GM says they can be reused if not otherwise damaged--visibly necked-down, corroded, damaged threads, etc.
  9. Get a cooling system pressure tester from the "Loaner Tool" program at a parts store. O'Reillys and AutoZone have them around here. NAPA used-to. Your location may be different. Pump up the cooling system, see if it's an actual leak or if you just have some leftover spillage. How many bleeder screws does the 3100 have? How hot is the engine getting according to a scan tool reading the coolant temp sensor? Do the fan(s) come on? What is the dash gauge showing?

    97 cutty ls4 swap

Little update, we got it tuned pretty good just having trouble making boost. Fixed a couple leaky intercooler pipes and it takes forever to build boost. Thinking maybe the 2 1/2 is too big for the turbo piping, probably will go to 2 inch. We have cam to put in which will help aswell. More vids coming soon
  11. You can barely see the coolant at the bottom of the gasket IMG_8049.mov
  12. Yup, I might be thinking of a different car TBH after seeing that part. Could he be referring to the old regulator tape pressed inside that piece? I`ll look on mine this weekend, I`m curious now.

It had to be saved, it was going to the Jawas otherwise. All Jiggity57`s fault for posting it. I got into a bit of a race the other day when I probably shouldnt have. I made a right turn and immediately found a speeding BMW attempting to swerve around me from a sharp corner in the right lane. I laid into the pedal a bit, chirped the tires and heard an awesome turbo wastegate PAHHTISHHHHH and left the kraut cart far into the rearview mirror. Scared the hell out of me and blew the lower hose off the turbo in the process. I love this freakin` car! Decades after WW2 and we can still put the Messerschmitt`s in their place, just not in a P51 Mustangs.
  15. I just replaced the LIM gaskets on my 3100, and now my coolant temp sensor doesnt work, and the car feels as if it gets very hot very quick. There is a small puddle of coolant right behind the thermostat housing if I shine a flashlight on it. (very hard to see) Is this the LIM gasket STILL leaking? I dont see any other leaks. Also I bled the cooling system thoroughly and it still feels like its getting really hot. I dont know what to do, the temp sensor worked fine before. I used a head gasket checker before I did the LIM manifold and it tested good. I used the high quality fel pro gaskets, and torqued down to spec. Is it possible that the new intake gaskets are leaking? I used a razor blade to clean off the gasket is it possible that a gouge or something is creating a leak? How forgiving are the fel pro gaskets?
  16. I think the guide is the piece that's on the corner of the glass next to the outside mirror when the glass is up. I think the channel is the metal piece that's mounted in the cavity of the door that keeps the glass from tilting forwards or backwards as it travels up and down on the regulator. I'm not sure which piece he's needing or referring too.
  17. Pics? Though Ive got a feeling I know the part being referred too. IIRC its called run channel if its the slotted piece the glass makes contact with on the sides of the "window regulator". It could "possibly" be some universal stuff that solidified over time that just looks like plastic. Hey is this at the front A pillar side of the glass near the mirrors or against the rear part of the door glass closer to the handle? I`m thinking of 2 different parts now.
  18. Hello and welcome. I think you might be referring to either the window guide...or channel. This is the guide. Part # of 10188185. This part is positioned on the window that kinda sits right near the outside mirror area when the glass is all the way up. This is the channel. Part # of 10129641. This one is positioned down in the door cavity where it's normally out of sight, more of a mechanical piece. I think it holds the glass upright in place as it travels up and down when the regulator is operating. It keeps the glass from tilting out of position inside the door when it's traveling up and down as well. These both are for the driver's side door. Do you know which one you need or are referring too?
  19. Hi, I have a 95 Cutlass Supreme (red on white) with the 3.4L and only 13,000 original miles (it's a Texas car). The drivers side window has a plastic part that is attached to it - it's almost like a guide for the window to run up and down the pillar. I can't seem to identify what you call it - nor, where I'd even look for one. Unfortunately, this part has a crack down it and I don't know how long it will last before it breaks off. Any help would be appreciated! JG from Canada.

    Head Gasket material 3100 v6?

On a side note, I think I might have scratched /goudged the intake gasket surface while cleaning it off with a razor blade. Are the fel pro gaskets soft enough to fill in the scratches? Its scratched around the coolant port

    Head Gasket material 3100 v6?

I ended up just doing the LIM gaskets. It didnt have original GM gaskets in it and they looked pretty old. I looked up the number on the intake gaskets and found out its a company that went out of business in 2009. I know that in the early 2000’s people commonly took blown intake gaskets and thought they were head gaskets. So its a good chance that they were replaced with the intake gaskets. I found out the head gaskets are made out of graphite which is the same thing the 3800s are made out of. Car only has 186,000 miles on it which is low for ‘95 so Im not too worried about it allthough I put on 1k miles a week on my commute.
  23. Working on this very car and searched up this thread for that SR P/N. Same thing happened on the passenger side and Ive about convinced myself I can replace the top and parts instead of a shop. Before that I want to disassemble and repaint/coat the frame pieces and go the extra mile a shop wouldnt. Can`t wait to get her back on the road and towards Pensacola, a convertible`s natural habitat!

    93 ACC questions...

You will probably need to replace the unit. I'm not aware of any new decals for these. I can't remember if the display is supposed to dim with the dimmer switch. I think it is possible to replace just the buttons if you find another unit.

    Hi from Cleveland

Welcome to the site. Lots of good information around here for these cars.
  26. So the digital read out on my Automatic Climate Control does not dim when I turn on my lights and is very bright at night. Also all of my buttons are worn to the point that it's hard to read them when the back light is on at night. I was wondering if there is a set of stickers to put over the buttons to make them look new like I've seen for other models and 2 is the digital read out supposed to dim when the lights come on?

    Hi from Cleveland

I just picked up a 93 vert last fall. I owned a 90 coupe as my first car back in highschool over 20 years ago. I've always wanted a convertible version since I first saw one. Now I do. lol She has a little damage from the previous owner which I've almost got all fixed but she's rust free with only 89k on the clock. The only pic i have right now is from the day I got her.
