What's New?

02/11/07 - This is Shaun chiming in with another one of our routely late updates. We're finally getting around to working on the main W-body.com page, but we need your help! We want to have rotating banners on the main page featuring different W-body models. We feel the best way to do this is to feature our own member's cars. If you have any good, high-resolution pictures of your car, visit the forum thread and post them up! We'll try to use all the pictures we can! Keep them coming!

If you have any comments or suggestions for our new W-body.com website, please tell us about it!

10/14/05 - What's this? An update?! That's right, it's been 3 years, but things will be changing around here within the next 6 months. We are still trying to figure out the best direction to take the website at this moment. It's a battle against static pages built w/ CSS, or some sort of Content Management software. But for the time being, I (Luke) am going to work on freshening the old site up, as well as try to come up with ideas for the new site. Unfortunatly, I don't have much free time to devote to this, but I promise to make an honest effort. As it stands right now we need new content for our site. Were looking for How-To articles, Frequently Asked Questions, and anything else you think would benefit the W-body community. If you have something you want to contribute, or would be willing to help us out in the search for new information, email me @ lukez34@w-body.com.
For those that are new here, head on over to the W-body.com Message forum. It's a great place to find information, ask questions and interact with people who all drive and enjoy their w-body cars.
As far as behind the scenes things go with the site, we've changed hosts yet again. In early 2005 the entire website was down because our host suspended our account for 'unpaid bandwidth charges'. It was strange because they never charged us for the extra bandwidth we used on a monthly basis but then expected us to pay up after they suspended the site. While this fiasco was happening, we switched to another host (http://www.hostrocket.com) and after the domain was pointed to our new host, Dixiesys refused to allow us access to the backups until we paid our overdue balance. Thankfully a number of generous members on the Forum pitched in and raised the necessary money needed for Dixiesys to release our backups. After that, we loaded the backups on to the new site, and everything was well again. We haven't had any problems as of now, and we don't forsee any major problems in the future.
Anyway, be checking back often as things will begin to look different in the near future!

8/09/02 - Yep, I'm happy to say after 1 whole month of down-time, w-body.com is back up and running on a different hosting provider, Dixiesys this time. They have a very good reputation, so hopefully the site and forum will be a LOT more reliable. If you hadn't heard, the site went down because my previous hosting provider, Cyberwings, has gone out of business due to the owner's fraudulant business practices. Actually, he claimed all sites would be rebuilt, but there's little hope of that (after all, it's been a MONTH and he's also disappeared). I guess you get what you pay for (it was the cheapest paid hosting provider I could find - 12x cheaper than Dixiesys). You can read about the whole Cyberwings saga here if you're interested. Anyway, their servers were leased from Lightship. They didn't pay their lease, so Lightship shut them down. Since they could not legally release data off the servers, guess what? The old phpBB forum is GONE. It was only up a couple weeks so I never saw fit to back it up. So here we are... most of the static web pages I had copies of on my machine, but the forums are having to be rebuilt from scratch. It will probably be a few days before I have everything back up like it was, so please bear with me... my dialup connection is super duper slow. As far as the rest of the site goes, I plan to rewrite it completely from the ground up, so if there are broken links, please let me know. However, I probably won't be fixing too much until I completely replace the site with the new version.

7/16/02 - Time and time again, I learn "you get what you pay for". After 3 months of reliable service, it seems my paid hosting provider is having problems. Supposedly this was a problem that should have been resolved by July 8th. However, the problem has persisted and hosting is still down. My hosting provider's network status can be seen here. They claim they'll be back up and better than ever, but I have my doubts. For the time being, I have moved the site back onto free hosting. I have also changed the message board links to point back to the old boards, as the new board will not work on free hosting. I am considering to switch to a different hosting provider, but unless anyone is interested in becoming a donating member, I'll just wait and see what happens with my current provider (I'm prepaid up to next April with them).

6/17/02 - I've updated some of the Suspension Upgrades pages because some old information there still references Ram Air Tech (TwinDualCam) products. That company has gone bankrupt and their products are no longer being produced and sold to the public, however, I believe some remaining stock is being sold off. Other than that, all other changes are in my personal life... I bought a 1999 Chevy Silverado pickup (kept both my W-bodies) and got married to my girlfriend of many years on May 23, 2002.

3/29/02 - Wow, no updates in a year and a half? You'd better believe it. Oh, I'm still alive, but I've been lazier than ever. Actually, I've gone through a lot of life changes... I scored a fulltime job for one thing. So with 9-hour days and a 1hr commute each direction, that doesn't leave a lot of free time. When I get home, all I feel like doing is vegging out. But all hope is not lost! I have plans for a COMPLETE REWRITE of this page. Actually, I've been saying that forever, but I've finally taken some major steps. 1) I purchased the domain w-body.com. 2) I've purchased a REAL webhosting package, no more pop-up ads, YAY! 3) My new career is web programming, so I can now move beyond HTML into the realm of REAL web programming. Don't expect this too soon though, because I'm planning to make a lot more huge life changes soon, so the site isn't going to be a big priority. In fact, it's not really going to be a priority at all because I'm still a lazy-ass!!! So, anyway... if you haven't caught it yet - the page is now on REAL, PAID webhosting. Yep, I forked out the big bills to get this site hosted on a pay server. Actually it was quite a bargain, but anyway... the static HTML pages are hosted on the new server, but message boards and other interactive pages are still on free providers so they'll still have the pop-up ads for the time being.

9/15/00 - There have been several updates... let's just see if I can remember where! Well, I've added links to all the W-body related message boards that are in my bookmarks. I've also added some Turbo Grand Prix crossover pipe info and images under the Service section.

8/28/00 - WOW! Almost no updates in half a year, but that's because I've been rather busy... I moved out of my parents house for one thing (into more modest accommodations, heheh). Then I've been sorting out my computer problems. I FINALLY managed to get FTP to work on my wireless network, so now I'm able to update the website from the convenience of the living room! Most updates to the site are to the Upgrades section. Now that I've got FTP working, I'll hopefully find more time for updates.
