Just bought a Predator for my LS4 GXP

Disable dod, trans cooler and shift kit. Suddenly the "unreliable" gxp is a perfect dd at low 20's mpg. And you can put exhaust and not have the horrible sound when cruising.

I just did the transgo one, i think theres others that are more performance oriented or like zzp has plastic shims for the accumulator springs i think. Transgo is like 60 bucks and has actual replacement springs. I was told to do new accumulator pins as well by triple edge. Id just go to there website and get the package deal then add the 2 accumulator pins and the lube tube retainer and you'll be set

What makes DoD so bad on LS4's? I'm a certified Chrysler tech and it's great on HEMI engines.

Also be careful about pre-packaged tunes out there. I noticed on C6 Corvettes (I had an 05 for awhile), most simply opened the throttle more with less input. Easy to do with an electronic throttle body. They "feel" a lot faster since a little bit of throttle does a lot. And man, do you hear a lot of testimony about how great these tunes are on the forums because of how they "feel", when they really aren't making a single extra horsepower.

I'm sure there's fellers on here that can be even more specific, but based on the two I've witnessed, the issue is that the oil pressure relief solenoid that purges oil pressure from the lifters sprays the oil at the bottom of one or more cylinders which gets pulled up into the combustion chamber and either burns it or cokes up the rings or cylinder walls. The fix from GM was a updated oil pan gasket with a splash shield of sorts to deflect the oil pressure spray, but from what I've read, it still doesn't stop the issue.

There's a hell of a lot more than that wrong with a canned tune. An inaccurate tune can cost power, economy, reliability and even an engine. Tune or don't tune but canned tunes are starting points at best.

Thats pretty much it. My car has the updated oil pan gasket and i assume a diablo can tune with dod deactivated and it still consumes although im pretty sure it has to do with the driving characteristics of the owner

Welp, went on a short road trip today for the first time since I installed the tune. Discovered that the cruise control no longer works now that the DOD is disabled. It’ll engage momentarily but then it disengages. Is this a thing or do I just have a pos tune? Spare me your opinions on canned tunes though, shit gets old. Im just wondering if this is in fact whats causing my cruise control fault. I suspect it is.

This seems to be a quirk with the Diablosport (a big reason why I do not recommend canned/handheld tunes) and only affects the GXP.

Apparently this has been the case for 4+ years, I'm shocked they haven't fixed it. But someone said to turn off the TC and then cruise should work.
