I found a front tower brace off a cutlass convertible in the JY. It’s been powder coated black and is installed on my GTP now. It rubs on the EGR valve just slightly when driving and makes a very annoying noise. The cutty lq1 must sit a little lower vs the GP? Rather than modify/bend/hack it up I’d rather just build another that fits better using factory tower plates. Just wondering if there’s any interest in this from anyone. Not ready to remove quite yet but just throwing it out there. Will trade for a 5 speed swap, or take offers.

If you have a welder a second gen FSTB can be welded right across the plates. I have / had one on the Regal. Now that I'm preparing to run caster / camber plates in the front I need to get creative and fabricate something.

RSTB brackets are available from GOT2BGM, you supply the box or round tubing and weld or bolt them together.

I might be interested in buying it if I finalize a purchase for a low mileage black 1996 Cutlass, a sunroof car, I'm waiting for the results of the inspection service I hired before deciding.

Also, it's a Square tube. I have one on my white 1996 Cutlass right now and it's making a huge improvement. I may just leave it on if I sell this car to buy the one I'm looking at, if so I'll need another one.

Thats why. Round tube ones are only made for 3.1/2.8s they changed it for the 3.4 DOHC. The square tube one fits all engines

Shouldn't a vert have a RSTB too?

I think they got a bolt-on RSTB just like the front. I'm not sure what years.

I'm afraid the convertibles didn't have a rear strut brace...the top mechanism is in the way.

Must have been the front brace I remembered. Front braces are standard on all the convertibles?

Yes...all of the convertibles got a front brace.EDIT...and needed it.  Earlier ones also had a bolt-in X brace in front of the air conditioning condenser.

I cannot see any earthly way for a W-Body to flex in a manner that necessitates such a thing even with it's top cut off. Maybe getting broadsided across the front or something but not under normal circumstances.
