brianstarr58 Posted February 9, 2017 Report Share Posted February 9, 2017 Hello all, I might be looking to sell my 95 Vert. It run fine but needs some TLC. It has a power steering hose leak, needs oil drain plug, abs light is on even though brand new rear calipers,rotors and pads both sides, new front pads, driver seat has rips and tears, top is 4 years old. Piece below rear glass has a couple of holes from hail and water leaks into the pouch that the top folds down into. Body is straight. Rust starting to appear on passenger side right near wheel well. Power top goes up and down easily..No issues. Cars run well and has 187,000 miles on it. Tire are 3 years old and have 30,000 miles on them. I am trying to get an approx. value because I might be getting ready to sell. I figured you guys might be interested before I actually advertise for sale. I originally typed that but then looked at the (easily fixable) issues. Either way, somewhere around that. oldmangrimes Posted February 9, 2017 Report Share Posted February 9, 2017 I've got a 95 with a bad top and 212k, and I value mine at only around $1300. I'm guessing yours is worth around $2000. I've bought and sold a few convertibles, and I find the price is higher in the Spring and early Summer. You might be able to get $2500+ in April/May/June, although that also depends on location. I would fix the ABS issue, that would be a deal-breaker to some buyers especially if it's a parent buying it for their child. And clean it well. I'm always surprised when people try to sell a non-detailed car. It costs nothing but your time, and I'm suspicious of sellers that don't care about their car enough to clean it before offering for sale. Nas Escobar Posted February 9, 2017 Report Share Posted February 9, 2017 I bought my convertible for $1500 but it had a vacuum leak that ended up being the LIMG, the roof leaks, and it needed new wheel bearings. It had 90k when I bought it. Personally, the mileage would be what holds you back the most. ABS is person dependent. My Infiniti had that light on when I bought it, so the ABS doesn't work. It needs a new sensor but they're $200 each. I bought the car for a couple hundred dollars so to me it's not worth fixing. When that light is on, all that happens is that the brakes work manually, so you'll end up locking them up if you hit the brakes hard. Honestly, if I were to look at your car if I found it on CL, I'd be mostly concerned with the mileage and the power steering leak. I ran my Z34 without power steering and the pump went out in a week. The pump overheated and broke the pulley off. Long story short, that p/s leak would be the breaking point. Depending on your location, $2000 would be a fair price, but I would list on CL for $2500 OBO to be negotiated down to $2000. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I learned that in buying my IROC, and as a result selling my Cutlass. Unfortunately, there aren't that many people eager to buy a 22 year old W-body, even if it's a convertible. After having owned mine for 7 years, and knowing what fun they can be, it's a shame so many are missing out on what can be a very nice ride. Just my opinion Thought about a vert but it is a hard battle in my area for them. Best for summer only. rich_e777 Posted February 10, 2017 Report Share Posted February 10, 2017 I would have never bought the Vert I did if it wasnt for this forum, there aren`t going to be many folks out there willing to fix it the way it needs to be. These cars can be worth a bit to fix up though, been watching the Barrett Jackson auction and they sold a red 1995 with a tan or white interior for $8k. But this one was basically a brand new car with low miles, With everything you listed you`d be lucky to get over $1000 for it. the general public are not interested in buying a 20 y/o uncommon convertible car with a more uncommon engine that needs some TLC. My car being green/tan makes it worse since green cars haven't been popular for a long time. I think we'll know in another 10 years if there will be any serious demand for these cars, but the only people wanting them currently seems to be the junk yard owners or people wanting to get into a cheap car without understanding the knowledge and $ required for upkeep. Funny/not-so-funny story About the TLC part...when I was changing LIM gaskets last year and had "engine stuff" (as my wife called it) everywhere, I believe she hoped the car was dead. She wants me driving something newer because we have the means. All of our friends drive newer "higher end" cars and here I come rolling up in my 95' lowered vert. Wouldn't have it any other way. Around the Memphis area, you might get $1000 for it as it sits. I've seen two other verts in around here besides mine in the 14 years I've lived here. Most people would see any car that way regardless because they see cars as commuting appliances. That's why Toyota is able to sell so many camry's and maybe even ironically most of them sold are silver/gray. You'll almost never see another color on those cars. We may like the cars, but are all looking for a "great deal" like everyone else. I personally wouldn't use KBB. First thing's first, they don't count anything older than 25 years old. Right now, it's not going past 1992. 2nd thing, KBB values a 95 vert with the 3.4 DOHC in fair condition as $1400, and good condition in $1700, so the $2000 with almost 200k is actually pretty fair considering i used my area which loves imports. Personally, it might be the exception and not the rule. I did a search for both my 96 Infiniti and it's worth less than the 95 vert. My Infiniti has 176k at the current moment and I used the fair condition, which value comes out to be $800 or so. I personally feel this is their nice way of saying that a 20+ year old 90's car is worth $500. Of course reality is far from that. My model of Infiniti shows up from time to time and most people want $1000 to $1500 for a car with 200k+ but "runs" and it's usually Automatic. Mine's stick. Usually the cars come with interiors more beat than mine and some rust. At the end of the day, I personally wouldn't pay more than $500 for a 200k mile car and both Gnat and Galaxie know this, because that's what I've offered them for their cars with 200k+. That's not what they sold their cars for however and in all honesty value is dependent on the buyer. $1500 - $2000 is what people usually pay for a running project car, which is basically what this is.
