Will our cars become classics?

Our cars will not have parts available to fix them. I could go on ebay right now, and buy all new parts to build a '65 Mustang, and then find a shell. That is the difference. The Wbodys that are kept in good shape will be valuable. Collector status? That I dont know. I suppose anything is possible.

I always sustained that the coupes would be so against the sedans. 4 door cars are usually what people think of when they think appliances but then again people have been more nostalgic than ever lately so it would be interesting how everything plays out. I never thought I'd see a day where people stare at a base 89 Regal with peeling paint.

anyone that messed with g bodies 10+ years ago will tell you ws will very likely have collector value. at one point I had 4 g bodies(2 86 cutlass 2 doors, an 81 cutlass t top, and a 79 Malibu.) I had less than $1000 in the four and three ran when I bought them plus the 81 and one of the 86s had less than 50k. now people are getting $3k for rustbucket v6 cutlasses. the reason value is so low on ws is the platform was made till 2015. wait ten years

fwd or rwd. truth is the majority of w bodies are quicker than the majority of g bodies stock. and at the current resale value (comparatively) there is a crap ton of w specific parts available than there was for g body cars before price skyrocket

Fwd < RWD

Thats the difference. I could be wrong about that. That might not be what makes cars valuable.

Not to mention that they were Chevy V8s which gave em a head start on the aftermarket support. 60 degree v6s don't have the amount of support the 3800 does, much less a V8. You can get headers for a 3800 but try getting headers for a 2.8 Cutlass and you're short.

The 1st gens will be the Colonnades and the 2ND gens will be the G bodies. The 2ND gens will end up being desired in a future where cars cannot be customized performance wise without tripping the computer or throwing codes. The Ws will have that virtue of needing a tune but not full blown sensor tricks and specified pieces to combat X issue.

I do agree with the wait 10 years or so when only the ones that are taken care of are seen. I won 1st place for the stock Grand Prix category at Carlisle GM Nationals with my GP GT. And that was against GTPs I was the only GT. I'm guessing that happened because it's stock not bone stock but stock enough and it super clean. People seem to be more interested in cars that are stock for the most part and so clean that you can read a newspaper in the paint. Not saying modding is wrong because it is fun to see the power increases

Extremely heavily modded vehicles are almost never worth anything.  With few exceptions, factory stock or nearly as close as possible commands a higher premium in regards to truly classic vehicles.

miko ks car kinda falls in another category lol

Pretty sure he had a hard time selling it too, so just because it's worth a lot (since you know, fast), doesn't mean it will be a classic by any means.

The comments on that are they way I see public opinion on our chassis, I still say there won't ever be any value to them as collector cars.

Our cars are "accidental" finds for most people and they fall in love or hate with them but the average person only has passing knowledge of them at best.

It's their loss really, the W-Body has so much to offer and so many different directions they can be built.

Everybody has a story about the time they got smacked down by a CamEro or some other "Sports" car: "I ran with it", "I would have had it but...", "That thing wasn't stock", to this day I've never been with a group of guys where somebody admitted having their ass handed to them by a W-Body out of embarrassment. But we all know it happens and with some frequency.

I think the current modded yet well done cars are what will boost value a bit. I know every time I pop the hood I get attention. while I was talking to redgrandprix at kc streetcar takeover the monte drew quite a bit of attention even tho I was just there as a spectator and the monte is a mess. really I keep having flashbacks to my old g body days lol

One thing is to build em, another is to buy them. Nobody buys someone else's project. I've been there done that (not to an extreme modded extent) and I have come to learn that you usually have to redo a lot of things the person owner "fixed" or "did right".
