91 International coupe that was in Kansas City yard a couple of years ago.  I think someone here also posted pics of it.  I didn't own my 91 International coupe yet so I didn't pull any parts that I need now!  It's probably been crushed long ago, sad.  Looks like a basic International with the 3.1 and no other options like moon roof or HUD.  Couldn't open the hood at the time.

Pretty decent interior pieces.  Someone grabbed the center console seat adjuster switch, horn pad and some other pieces.  Wished I grabbed the steering wheel.  Front and rear leather seats looked good too I thought.

Found this car in Newton, IA at Car Country.  Pretty rough shape and not sure if it's there anymore.  They speared the fork thru the front windshield to lift and move the car around and buckled the roof pretty bad, IDIOTS!  I think it's a 89-90 Gran Sport.  Might go there soon so I'll let everyone know if it's still there.

Pretty nice interior door panels, front and rear seats with nice center consoles.  Again, should have pulled them.  Maybe if the car is still there.  Fabric was a little dirty, moldy from exposed to the weather but easily cleanable.  Steering wheel but no center horn pad.

Nice rear seats and steering wheel!  The transmission was pulled from the car, missing rims but otherwise pretty complete.  Why would someone throw this car away?  Doesn't look rusty.  Love the Burgundy color and wished someone would of saved it.  I guess I get too attached to these first gen w bodies.

Seems like every time I show pics of these cars or my own car,  people have positive things or reply "that's cool, never seen rear seats like that".  People either didn't know about the International Series, or SE, or Gran Sports so they never gave them a second thought.  At least this site will help remedy some of that.

We're a niche though. The problem with us is that we're just like the FWD A body crew. The cars were abandoned long ago. We picked em up because either the car was cheap or we liked the styling.

The sad thing is that the W body coupes were never bad looking. They just came at a wrong time. By 88 people were moving down from coupes to small 4 door sedans. 1989 was the same year the Accord became America's best selling car and throughout the 80's it was the Escort or Cavalier. Those weren't really known for their 2 door versions.

I agree, seems like everyone at that time were buying the cheaper, smaller cars.  What did it for me is when my middle school history teacher pulled up at the school yard with a brand new 1989 black International coupe.  I remember the black against the silver lower cladding and the pie alloys.  It had grey cloth interior and luggage rack.  No moon roof or HUD or anything like that but I really fell in love in love with the uniqueness of the seats.  I also loved the unique door handles too.  Really was a different and fresh styled car compared to everything else at the time.  I remember my dad looking at these cars but his wife at the time wanted a Thunderbird.  We ended up buying a new 1990 Cougar because of the extra head room and he liked the independent rear axle and rear wheel drive.  Was one of the best cars we ever owned and really loved the digital dash.  Were probably the only people on the planet that liked the motorized seat belts too!

Nowadays it's the small crossover. I don't understand why those things even caught on in the first place.

I found my Cutlass Supreme by luck. I never minded the 1st gen W bodies, but I'm not a big fan of FWD. Bought my convertible and junkyarding around the platform mates got me hooked. Funny thing is that I was going to buy a 2004 Impala at one point and an Intrigue at another. Bought a Z34 and I realized these cars could have been a hit if they came out earlier rather than later. By 1988 the market was changing but had they been 85s or maybe 86s, these cars had the right amount of styling and power... once they got rid of the 2.8. Not that it was a bad engine. My 89 picks up but it feels more like a cruiser than a sleeper, which is a big difference from my 93 Z.

I heard that the 2.8 is reliable just underpowered.  The 3.1 is better for power.  I am really excited to get my 3.4 DOHC running and see how it performs.  My 91 is my 2nd W body and I love it!  I bought a new 06 Grand Prix GXP and wished I kept it.  The V8 was really quick.  One of those cars that you wished you had back if you could do it all over again.  Had it for 3 years and bought it with only 7 miles on it.  It only had 3400 on it when I sold it.  DUMB!

I went into an upholster the other day to see if i could get my front seats re-sewn.  and mentioned i had rear bucket seats that i wanted to have a panel replaced with different color.  He told me cutlass didn't have the quad bucket seats, must have been a custom job.  After disagreeing twice i gave it up and figured he doesn't get it.

That is really cool to see regal with quad buckets.  I've never seen one live.

A lot of people didn't know that these cars had that rear seat option so it doesn't surprise me.  I have never seen a Regal in real life either but found that grey one on the web and it surprised me!   Be cool to find a 91 Regal 4 door and do the conversion on one!

Again, pic is from last fall and car is not there anymore.  Same yard as the current pics of the blue 94 Cutlass vert and red 91 Lumina Z34.  Still makes me upset that it ended up here.
