90 Cutlass Supreme, some mods I would like to do. Suggestions?

I have lots of visual mods you could do, but there's only a few engine mods to do. A 25 year old 3..1 isn't gonna be all that fast.

 

Pics?

 

I have magnaflows on my 3.4 and it sounds pretty good, considering they're hard to make sound good. 3.1s are easy to make sound mean (if running good)

But the 3.4 and the 3.1 sound different (I'd say in most cases the 3.1 sounds better, but I love mine). This was also brand new so it's subtled down a bit

 

As for engine stuff, start with a full tune up, fresh oil, etc. then make sure everything is working properly and that you have no codes. Then you can do things such as a k&n filter or cold air intake, polyurethane dog bone bushings, underdrive pulley (if you can find one), performance chip, etc. these are where I'd start looking, but I've had little to no sleep in the last few days so I'm missing some I'm sure :lol:

The downpipe will help for sure. Mine was a huge improvement. Oh and WOT-Tech products, fucking awesome. That's the only place I buy from. My motor put down some nice numbers, especially since the tune wasn't done and it was on log manifolds. But yes, WOT-Tech chip will help out.

Unhooking EGR will set a code and will not gain any power. Only emission device that hurts power is the catalytic converter.

The original GM pellet-style converters were pretty restrictive, and gave cats a bad reputation.  The newer, honeycomb/monolithic converters are not nearly as bad.  If the converter is original, it may be partially-plugged or otherwise damaged/worn out.

 

The FIRST thing that needs to be done is a comprehensive tune-up including combustion chamber sealing diagnosis and emissions-control diagnosis.  There's no point in looking for "extra" horsepower if the engine isn't making rated power due to wear in the rings, timing chain, cam lobes, poor valve sealing, or because of throttle body/intake manifold/port deposits.  All the sensors need to be sending appropriate data to the ECM.
