Crappy muffler after cat?

Hi all. My 2000 Regal LS has an exhaust leak that I originally thought was coming from the flange after the catalytic converter. Only after my wife bent the intermediate pipe (She bottomed out during a k-turn in reverse), did I notice holes in the "Resonator" directly after the rear o2 sensor. It looks like a cheap muffler to me. Was this oem or a "jiffy muffler" cob job? All of the aftermarket resonators look nothing like what I have. The picture enclosed is for reference (looks like this, but it's round instead of oval)

Here's a link to AP's online website to search your application.......3.8 eng. n/a or blown,

the OEM resonator would've been stainless, oval shaped, 2 1/2 in 2 1/4 out,

for a decent resonator in the past I've just picked up a Dynomax *bullet* muffler, they do a good job and in most cases are less expensive than an aftermarket manufacturers resonator but everything will be aluminized.

Thank you. I was planning on replacing the resonator with a piece of exhaust pipe. I can try to buy just the flange and then weld it to the replacement pipe, then bolt the whole thing to the catylitic converter. (I like a slightly louder than stock exhaust, just not ricer loud)

BTW, it is the 3800 s2 n/a model.
