Are all w-body seats interchangeable?

Want to replace my front seats in my 98 MC. Are all w-body front seats interchangeable? What about power seat connections?

Also, what about back seat swaps?

The 88-96 (and 97 Cutlass) 1st gen W bodies (Regal, Lumina, Grand Prix) seats interchange with the 95-99 Monte Carlo (and 95-01 Lumina). That's for both front and rear. The 97-05 W's do NOT interchange with the 1st gens HOWEVER a dremel and drill will fix the frame and you have to do some wiring to get the power passenger seat to work. If you have heated seats, you have to wire that up to. Its not plug and play. The rear bottom bench from a coupe will fit but its 2 inches wide on each side. So its a tight fit but it works. The top portion of the back needs to be taken off the frame because the 1st gen seat foams are mounted to the body whereas the 2nd gen are mounted onto a separate frame so it can fold down

Thanks! I'll start keeping an eye out for some nice seats.

I don't have heated seats, and really don't care to have them. Just wanted to keep the powered seats. Though I won't mind a bit of splicing if need be.

I have 2003 Monte Carlo seats in my house. I now have to install. I'll do a how to when it gets done. The only person at this moment that has done this mod is L67SS, but he didn't take pics.

Can't wait to see that writeup.

In the mean time I will probably find a good pair of Grand Prix seats to stick in there, only problem is I am not sure if Grand Prixs ever came with powered seats, at least the Grand Prixs with seats that will fit the Monte. Not a big deal though if there isn't any, because getting powered seats out at a junkyard is a pain in the ass because I don't have a jumpbox to bring. I would probably end up buying a cheap $25 valucraft lawnmower battery from autozone, and throwing it in a toolbox with some jumper cables so I can get at the bolts.

Gen 1 GP or Gen 2?

The 1G only had power drivers. None of the 1st gens came with power passenger seats.

If you have a cordless drill, you can move the seats with the battery for it. That's how I got mine out. Some yards don't allow power to the cars at all so be aware of that. You can get in trouble when they search your bag
