Wbody Nationals September 28th-30th 2012 planning

I would first like to plan a weekend and also get some ideas on what we could do for the weekend... I like the idea that we rent a place away from other people (no more hotels) so if you have any ideas, I would love to hear them... Some place secluded, I am thinking of a lake house on Lake Erie but I havent done any research... We have 3 months, lets get this going!!

98 Regal GS - 275k, on the race to 300k
    99 Silverado Z71 - 204k, BGA express
03 Grand Prix GT - 81k, Hopefully will see the road again someday
    97 Grand Prix GTP - 173k, Sloppy Seconds V2.0

If thats too difficult finding another place, a hotel may still work as long as ALL of our rooms are on the same side (and preferably in the back)

I like the idea of being secluded. I mean, you have to understand both sides of the situation. It's going to be hard to keep 40 people quiet. But at the same time, everyone else in the hotel is there to sleep, so you can't blame them for being mad. I think being in a house we rent or something away from everyone would be the perfect thing.

What about a hotel with a conference hall where we'd have a big indoor room? (like for a wedding reception)

Excessive noise and alcohol consumption is accepted under such conditions, and is well away from other hotel guests rooms.

The problem I see is the possibility of stragglers who want to be under the hood of a car, or the revving of engines late at night... I think keeping people indoors in easier said than done, but at the same time, we have yet to have a place where all of us can fit in one place to ourselves

For the guys out west, I want you to be able to attend this, Adam had mentioned flying... I will gladly pick you up and drop you off at the airport... I'm thinking of Luke and buck and Adam and any others who want to attend but want to avoid the drive and gas costs... I'm 1 hour from Detroit airport, it wouldn't hurt to at least check prices

I am friendly with the manager of a Holiday Inn (provided he's still there). It has a conference hall, a bar, and a very large parking lot, part of which is nowhere near the actual building. It's in Worthington, a northern suburb of Columbus. Old money neighborhood. It's on the bus line, there are a million taxi cab companies around, and it's about 20 minutes from the Ohio State Campus, the Short North, the Arena District. Killer bars and pubs all around.

Pick-n-pull is about 40 minutes from there, and National Trails just about an hour. Columbus International Airport is not too far from there.

    Just throwing out ideas.

Also forgot to mention...my house and my personal garage are 25 miles from Worthington in the event of work needing done or a major failure that requires storage. I've got plenty of space too.

Dude indoors kinda sucks, specially if its nice outside. Personally the secluded thing would suck having to drive a complete hour to everything.

The other thing you have to take into account, is no offense, but im not really going to have me and my wife room with somebody. somebody might feel the same. thats whats nice about a hotel room.

I suggested this for the June meet and everyone scoffed at the idea and said it wasn't necessary. I really do think that renting a party hall/room for the evening activities is the way to go......can be loud, drink, hang out, eat, play loud music.....basically whatever you want in an area/place that was designed for such a thing....

This is everything I was thinking.

I really don't see whats so bad about a hotel, like I said maybe with some more careful planning to make sure we get all of the rooms on the back side of the hotel, we can stay at this RRI. If it wasn't for that lady flipping out, this meet would have went down without a hitch, everybody conducted themselves just fine.

Just my .02, I'm sure we'll figure something out.

The other thing some of you guys have to stop is the reving, bass, and constant running of the car after 9:30. There is really no need to do it. wait until the morning. Also that hotel was fine. I dont know why we didnt walk over next door the the empty lot if we wanted to be loud. Im there to talk and hang out. Not there ruin someones night sleep.

My point is this... How would you feel if a group of people were standing outside your bedroom door talking until 3 am when you have to be up at 6 for a family function or business meeting or something? I think standing outside and talking and drinking until 3 am when other innocent bystanders are trying to sleep is inappropriate. If we had a couple complaints, that most likely means a lot of people were pissed off, but only a couple had the balls to say something.

I think we need a private area to continue doing the drinking and talking thing at 3 am. Not saying we should stop doing it, what I'm saying is that we need to go about it a different way. Bullshitting until 3 am is cool as long as we don't annoy other people in the process.
