    TGP wouldn't move... FIXED!

So I just got back from takin the TGP out for a ride, probably 30 miles or so I put on. I get to a stop sign on my way home and as I stopped, it felt a little weird. It was almost as if something locked up as I was stopping, the car kinda jolted when it stopped. I let the car in the other lane go, took my foot off the break, hit the gas and nothing. It just revved. So I tried a couple times, moved the gear selecter to park then drive, tried reverse, and nothing at all, just revved. It was weird though, because I was on an incline, but the car didn't roll backwards until I popped it in neutral to try to roll onto shoulder. I shut it off, checked tranny fluid, it looked good, a little burnt in color, but I've seen worse. After a few min, I turned it on and still nothing, then I gave it a little more gas and it's like something caught and I moved. It made the last 3-4 miles home without a problem. What the heck happened??

The TCC solenoid could have malfunctioned due to it's age, would not be the first time a 4t60 has had that problem. If it happens again and does not correct it self in a timely fashion you could un-plug the connector to the TCC. If that does not resolve the issue some trouble shooting from a transmission specialist may be needed..

level was good, wasn't low. I don't think parking pawl but TCC solenoid sounds very probable. I'm kinda afraid to take it out again without knowing. Maybe it's time to swap in the 282...

This exact thing happened to my 95. It felt like it wasnt grabbing and just neutral revving. Put in park and back in drive again and it has not happened since.

Ok, so I changed the vacuum modulator today after reading some posts on tgpforums about a very similar problem to mine and it's better and worse at the same time. It shifts much better but anything over half throttle and I get a shutter like it's misfiring. But when I am in park and revving the engine it revs just fine so I don't think it's a misfire issue, plus I have never had that hapen before either.

Is it normal with the front end jacked up off the ground for the tires to spin slowly in neutral?

I used MD28 and it came with a couple extra little parts that I didn't use because it didn't look right with the extension and ring it came with. It didn't look right so I didn't use them.

some tire movement at idle is normal, the torque converter is still spinning them along. should be easily stopped by hand though.

yea, after posting I went to howstuffworks.com and looked up torque converters and that makes sense to me now. I am going to play with the car some more tomorrow after work.

k I can check that. I have some spares. I just find it weird that I suddenly have possible spark or ignition problems at the exact same time my tranny starts to act up. Buuuuuut it is totally possible.

I had a spare set of coils, put em in and no change. I am going to do plugs and wires this weekend when I get paid, it's about time for them to be changed anyway.

Turns out the plugs were shot, changed em out with R42LTS and gapped em to .28 as recommended by adam(flybynite) and the car works great now! There's a little less rubber on my tires now...
And a littte good and bad news. The good news, I finally found what has been leaking, the bad news... it's the radiator I have a spare that I am going to get pressure tested and if good, will put that in.
