B-body project anyone? *UPDATE NEW TIRES*

I've been thinking off and on about dumping the caprice. I just can't afford a DD that gets 18-20 MPG highway. I'm blowing easily 60-70 dollars a week on gas, and it's really can't continue.

Figured I'd throw it out here first, since the "clientele" around here that are in the market for a caprice aren't exactly the type of people I like to deal with. Does anyone have a decent W or other vehicle that they'd be interested in trading? I have no idea what the market for a project B-body is around here but I figured someone might want it.

Quick overview: Fuel pump is a month old, along with strainer and filter. Belt is new, plugs/wires/cap/rotor are newer. Front ceramic breaks with rotors and repacked wheel bearings. Both outer tie-rod ends (needs 2 tires up front from the bad alignment). Has an odd low idle/stall when the engine is cold, still trying to chase that down. May be swapping MAP's soon to test. Once it's warm it runs absolutely perfect, trans shifts perfect.

I DD this car, usually at least 150 miles a week. Besides the fuel pump it's never let me down, it's a very strong runner. It will also be getting an oil change in the next couple days, and I've been using high mileage in it. Has used LESS than half a quart in ~4000 miles.

Negatives:
Steering column suffered the broken ignition rod syndrome. I have it rigged right now, works fine but should be fixed.
High pressure P/S hose leaks, fill up once a month
Rear pinion seal needs to be replaced. I have kept the diff. full and it hasn't been run low. No rear end noise.
Needs... body work. You be the judge.

I was hoping to trade straight up, but if I had to put a price on it I'd say $800? I've got almost that in time/parts in it.

:UPDATE:

Two new General Altimax RT tires installed tonight, factory 225/70R15. Road force balanced and aligned. Drives REALLY NICE now, 10 times better than before.

Yea, I know. '94-'96 cars are in high demand. Unfortunately I'm stuck with the lowly TBI 305. Surprisingly not a bad engine, it's pretty torquey for what it is.

for a daily i more than prefer a TBI car. so much simpler to work on/diagnose/fix/less to go wrong.

No one? Hell the tires alone are worth $250 bucks guys! Use the motor/trans for a rebuild/swap project on the cheap? Scrap the rest? Who knows...

Looks like I'm going to be stuck with this thing. It's costing me a fortune to drive it around every day.

I have a perfect gas car if your interested. It is a 99 toyota corolla that averages around 36mpg. I moved closer to work so I dont really need it anymore. It has 240k miles on the body and around 150k on the motor. Motor was replaced in the past due to the last owner driving it 200 miles without the oil cap. It has no pw, pl, cruise, or cd but it does have AC that blows cold. It also has plowed over 2 deer resulting in a slightly crumpled hood and a broken headlight and it has a little bit of rust above the rear fenders. Besides all that I have replaced plugs, wires, starter, and I put new sway bar links on it. Tires are decent and it runs and rides great. If you want ill trade.

Is that a stick or auto? Got any pictures of the front end? I can probably fix those things easily.

It is an auto and the damage on the front isnt too bad. Both headlights work but the mounting brackets are broken. The turn signal lens have fallen off which I think is pretty common for this car. You can get a complete set of headlights and turn signals for 50 bucks on ebay. The hood is crimped but closes and the left fender has a little dent in it. Both can be picked up fairly cheap at bone yards. It does have some rust on the left rear. The right has a little but not as bad as the left. All in all this has been an excellent DD car. I average about 36mpg on the two lanes running 55/60 and about 31mpg running 75 on the interstate. Do you have the other factory wheel on that caprice.

That actually doesn't look bad, I'm very interested. I don't have either front hubcap, one was missing when I got the car the other one fell off somewhere along the line.
