As of right now, Im going to leave the motor alone. Once the 5spd is up and running, Ill consider more upgrades for the motor. The plan for right now is now that the engine bay is empty, the car is going to get painted. Engine bay and all. Then the 5spd will be going in. So motor will remain untouched. Except for a little cleaning.

Heres a question. Seems that the 3.4 DOHC came with 2 flywheels depending on this M27 code. I dont have the VIN # off the car that this came out of, and Im unsure of the differences in the flywheels, since everywhere I look it never says any difference other than this M27 code. So how would I know which flywheel to get? Only thing I can go off of, is that I do have the old one.

So Ive found these RPO codes on the Getrag. Can someone tell me what they mean? Also, still in need of a flywheel. Some places say they need the RPO coes and other need the VIN. I dont have either.

    M27 : TRANSMISSION, MAN 5 SPD, GETRAG, 84MM, 2.46 1

    MD5 : TRANSMISSION, MAN 5 SPD, GETRAG, 76MM, 3.92 1

    MG2 : TRANSMISSION, MAN 5 SPD, GETRAG, 76MM 3.50 1

    MW4 : TRANSMISSION, MAN 5 SPD, GETRAG, 84MM

    MG2 is a 282 designed for V6's

    M27 is a 284

    MD5 is a 5 spd for the 2.0 OHC Sunbird etc\

    MW4 I'm not sure.

Only reason I ask is because the GM # on the flywheel I have is 10162025. But I guess the updated GM # for the M27 (284) code is 10162024...

Hey man, if you still trying to hunt down bushings for the shift cables check this out. Scroll down to the bottom, direct drop in and you would never have to worry about them ever again!

    http://www.boogerracing.com/buyparts.html

I had a set in my old Achieva SCX that had bad bushings and i loved these things! Nice and firm feel, takes the sloppy OE feel out and tightens the cables up.

Good work on the car so far
