Well I dont really share alot of things done to the car, but Ill share this one. Recently went a picked up a 5spd swap, from one of the members here, and this will be done in the spring. First I have to take out the current motor/tranny then tow her over for paint. Why take out the motor/trans you ask? Well the whole car is getting painted. Including the engine bay. Subframe will probably end up being POR15'ed. Then once that is done, this will happen... a 5spd swap into a 3400 Cutlass. Although I plan to mod the motor more, it wont happen while its out. Only thing Im going to do is give it a damn good cleaning. Many of the 5spd parts going in will be powdercoated. I know I need to gather a few more parts, and Im sure of you guys will be able to point those out in the pics. BTW, did I mention the tranny is a Getrag 284!
And heres the rest of the swap. Had to put everything in the back of the car so its out of way.
Ive pretty much got everything figured out, except for a few odds and ends. Ill try and document it as good as I can, so anyone that wants to do this swap will have an almost step-by-step guide. I plan on getting a new GM flywheel, not going to use an aluminmum one, using a stage 2 Spec clutch. Ive heard many good things about them. Stage 3 is just a little too much on a street as I found this yr!Thanks Jon! Im pretty sure that the current clutch master and slave cylinder work, but might consider getting new ones, since Ill need to bleed them anyways. ( and if you have any tips on bleeding them please feel free to share! ) Ive also heard that taking out the accumulator helps with clutch feel, which again if anyone has any imput please feel free to share. I know Im forgetting something, so Ill just post later on about it when I remember
Please bear with me as this project isnt going to happen over night. Its gonna take some time.
