Question need some info on lq1 swap

ok iv been looking for info on swaping a 91 lq1 from a 91 z34 Auto, with a 96 or 97 lq1 with a 5 speed (getrag 284) and need a little more info. iv found how to turn a obd1 or 1.5 to a obd 2 with out the engine swap, cant find anything about the engine swap. Then how to wire up a manual with the obd 2 iv found how to do it with a auto 91 harness(obd1) but not 96 or 97, is there a big difference between the two, any links or info would be Epic.

You will only find a manual trans up to 93, youll have to keep the car OBD1... You can buy the 96+ intake setup which is the only real big difference between the years...

Ah, didnt realize about the heads... But if thats the case, the OP can swap a 96 engine in (it will bolt up the the trans with no issue) and it should mostly wire up, just a couple sensors would need deleted to make it perfect... Someone else who knows more will probably correct me

You're not going to find a wiring diagram for an OBD2 manual. No One's ever attempted it (to my knowledge) because it's a pain in the ass. To those that want a manual LQ1 OBD2, what I've noticed is they tend to avoid the getrag 284, and go for the F40 transmission from the 3900 V6 Pontiac G6 GTP

While he is correct that you will not find the info in a manual, obd 2 5 speed swaps been been done for as long as I can remember. The wiring IS NOT lq1 specific, so if you search 3100/3400 5 speed, you will find everything you need.

On this board will you find the info- most likely no.

It's been done. All I can think that needs done is splicing the wires for the speed sensor, back-up switch, and clutch safety switch on the Getrag and leave all the rest of the wiring for the automatic. You'll need a DHP tuner to shut off all the codes associated with ditching the 4T60 and also reprogramming your pules per mile to the Getrag transmission's.
