learning unrelated stuff mostly, but grabbing library wifi when i can.

at the very latest, i'll be putting in an order for all of the parts for at least the ones that have been spoken for by the end of next week(plus whatever parts i need to make the minimum order requirements).

Assuming this will work with a 95/96 GTP and its fairly simple to install I'm in. I already have a vats bypass in place using the inline resistor... but sometimes it doesn't work and I sit there like a jackass for 10 minutes trying to turn over the car and then it suddenly works.

sounds like your PK module itself is going out.

i'll be dealing with these very soon, i promise this time.

Where is the PK module located? Can I replace it fairly easily? I suppose it would have a different resistance if I replaced it...

the passkey module in the 95MC is behind the glovebox. on a 95GTP, same relative location. not sure how much you'll need to remove to get to it, but i pulled the glovebox and was able to get to it. it's held in with a metal bracket, which i just bent the hell out of to get the module out since it wasn't going to be reused. the module itself is a little black plastic box.

also, first update in far too long:

i have 10 circuits built, will be testing soon(hopefully tomorrow), then since it's been so damn long, anyone who wants one: reply after the post with my test results.

anticipated shipping costs: around $2.30 to pretty much anywhere in the continental US. not sure about international rates.

this would take care of the signal to the PCM part of the passkey module, the other half is the starter enable relay.

you could either bypass it entirely by connecting two wires together or if you want to keep the relay for some reason, connect a single wire to ground. it's fairly simple to show on a diagram.

i can probably make these for ~$10 USD + shipping and in an almost waterproof box and still turn a decent profit. i may even add a LED to indicate operation, though that would certainly remove the waterproof aspect.

anyways, if even one or two people is interested, i'll go ahead and order the parts to make all 30 or so since i would likely cover my costs from that alone. all W-bodies would need is a 50Hz setup, though some of the earlier passkey setups in mid 80s vettes/f-bodies used a 30Hz setup, either can be made easily enough. it's certainly possible to make one module that can produce either signal as well, would just need a SPDT switch to switch between the resistor necessary to create the frequency you want.

any interest? as you can see, i'm certainly not in this for the money.

Hey, do you happen to have the schematics for the 30 and 50hz wave generator?, I would love to build one since my passkey box gave up, and also would love to get rid of all this security crap that makes my life a nightmare with my camaro everytime the fixed resistor goes bad. send me the schematics if you can, if not build me one of those devices that can generate either one with the flip off a switch. let me know I really need them.

Do you have a tdm bypass board already built for a 1995 monte carlo...my security light is flashing won't start tried spare key tried turn on/off 3 times 30 min..I can jump the starter with key on it will hit and die...i think it is in the vat sys...was gonna try to bypass completely whats the best option? Thanks..

yeah, either your module or the wiring is FUBAR'd and is causing that.

i'll throw the VATS option back on the MC today and get it tested, results in the next few hours.

the PK2 module will kick into fail-enable mode when you disconnect the connector after the engine is running. i skimmed your thread, but wasn't paying too close of attention.

the module SHOULD stay in that mode indefinitely if you don't reconnect or hook in any other resistor, though if the module itself craps out or the theft deterrent relay dies, then you'll have problems again.

Thank you for your response....question...if i unhook battery will it still stay in that mode? but anyway the tdm bypass systems you are building are they hard to install is it plug and play...and what will be the cost i am interested in one Thanks..
