Thread: Skitchin's 95 GP SE

    Skitchin's 95 GP SE

Planning some mods so I'll start off here. I own a 95 Grand Prix SE 2DR. I've had the car for going on 8 years now and besides it being a little worn out, I just want a more solid feeling car. Don't have much for upgrades atm. I had some flowmaster mufflers put on when I first got her, and I also put on a cone style air-intake, nothing fancy by any means.

Hopefully I can get rolling on some of these projects soon. I'm working on reclaiming the garage from a family of hoarders/lazies, I've almost got a place to work in. Got my car in there now, and that's all that matters. First car that's been in there in 10 years!

    Here's my to-do list:
    1. Front and Rear strut tower braces
    2. bigger and or thicker rotors
    3. Strengthen rear suspension - I have had many issues after putting a speaker box in the trunk,. I've taken some of my stereo stuff out in hopes of making everything less of a hack.
    4. Some electronic work - I'm way more comfortable doing this kind of stuff, have been thinking about building my Driver Info Console, though I'm not sure what kind of protocol or wiring harness is involved.

    Here's some pictures from tonight

Check it out, I found two Oldsmobile flags, think I saved these from the trash when I was workin for a car dealership

Could definitely use some advice all around. I've really never done much on cars beyond the basics, but I'd love to learn if that's what it takes to fix up my GP.

Sorry if I'm a bit scattered right now, cleaned for 5 hours after working in a warehouse all day >_<.

Find a 91-95 cutlass convertible they have a FSTB. It will bolt right up to your car. Grand Prixs look really good in red.

That olds flag looks really cool. That was a good find.

Thanks! It's always stood out in red, but then again - it's always stood out in red :P. I think white also looks great on these old W's, would be my first choice for a repaint. I've got some parts in the works from a couple of members on the forums. AWeb's making a batch of rear mounts, and I purchased the front bar from Red93Cutlass, which should be here monday .

Right now I'm looking for any info I can find about the DIC and HUD if anyone has some places to start.

Edit: Just found a great post on the forums here about HUD, http://www.w-body.com/showthread.php...l=1#post355894

Your GP should be prewired for HUD and DIC. That would make them really easy to install. You will need to find a 94-95 DIC because one from a 96 will not work 100%. The fuel economy stuff won't work.

Yo, I've got my dash apart right now investigating. I found some dangling connectors, was just running in here to get the pinouts and colors. I might source a trip computer but I'm curious about some of the down and dirty bits about what protocol the HUD and DIC use in hopes of implementing something of my own design.

Also, lots of my dash parts are kind of sticky gross from aging. Was going to paint them but don't know what material they are exactly, how I should prep them, and what kind of paint? I've got plastic paint and paint for vinyl on hand.

Can anyone help identify these connectors? Just trying to confirm in hopes of not toasting my car. My guesses in order: HUD switch, trip computer, HUD?

DIC should be in the cubbyhole to the left of the cluster, HUD should be...under the dash trim panel? Don't quote me on that one.

The HUD is usually behind the cluster. Under the dash trim piece.

These harnesses were just kind of tucked out of the way, I did some probing last night to figure out what was what. To my surprise the wider connector turned out to be the trip computer. Everything seems to match from the pin out I linked earlier

IIRC if you have ABS you should be prewired. I have never seen a non-ABS car that was.

-White 1995 Grand Prix SE: tinted tails, Flowmaster 40 Series mufflers with resonating tips. much more to come eventually
There are 1 1995 GRAND PRIX 2 DR vehicles (0.002%) matching your exact options list. There are 4 (0.007%) with at least as many options.

Yeah, mine isn't either. I really want to run HUD but I don't want to swap interior harnesses or hack shit up just to have a LCD readout on my windscreen. Priorities, man

Although I do have to pull my dash to put that column bracket I got for my manual swap...

So I got my front strut tower bar today. It had some splotches of rust starting, so I decided to sand away. Thank god for dremmels. I probably went a bit over board, but now my new part looks new too .

    Obligatory pictures...

Nice! I've not seen too many of the round style FSTBs.
