brakeing it in is to try to get seals and everything to fit in, which just means not to run the car @ certain rpm for a long period of time, just rev up and down, that will wear the rings in and seal propertly, and probably most other things inside an engine.

WOT will not hurt the car as much as setting cruise on a Long drive.

When I looked at the tach, I think it was between 5 and 6k. With yellow being 6.5 and red line at 7, thats what freaked me out.

Totally agree. But there's simply nothing good that comes out of taking an engine that has been sitting for the better part of 15 years and taking the RPM over 5k so soon. I wouldn't do that to any engine with low miles.

This is getting way off topic but the very first mile or so was beaten into most our cars. Its standard procedure to wot the car right off the assembly line to its parking spot to be loaded for delivery.

I never WOTed the GP. Almost did a couple times, just never happened as I never needed all the power.

That was the case until about 2005 or 2006... I remember when I went to the fairfax assembly plant... The tour guide told us that they use to leave massive burn outs at the end of the assembly line... But some regulations guys came in and put a stop to that along with smoking while working...

When I was a kid, my uncle was a supervisor at the Norwood, Ohio Camaro/Firebird plant. We went there in the spring of 1969, and got the grand tour. I wish I could have one of those brand-new '69's now!

Anyhow, at the end of the assembly line, they would put the car on rollers right next to the exit doors, and run the whiz out of them on the rollers for about a minute each. Then, they'd reach out from the driver's side, and press a button to lock the rollers, then leave several yards of rubber on the plant floor, into the parking lot, burning the tires as far as they could.

I always laughed at how the owner's manual told you how to baby the car for the first bit, when I knew they'd been wrung out the moment they left the factory floor.
