Seriously, the timing cover takes about an hour to remove. And by the time they do fail (magnets do indeed get weak) your timing chain is gonna have excess slop in it anyway, so changing that out can help the car run better.
Then again the JB weld makes sense. Take overnight to dry and is a hackjob. Or you could spend 2 hours doing it the correct way and install a new timing set while your at it.

Umm yeah it had merit.
And if you screw up JB welding on the magnet, your gonna be pulling your oil pan to pull out the shit you dropped.
And if you do it right, youll have the car up and running the same day.
Whoever did the hack job of 'glueing' the magnet on needs to put down the crack pipe. If you cant do it right on something that isnt hard, then you need to pay someone to do it right.
