this is all i have so far.
The 4t60-e was first introduced in W-cars in 1991 on 3.4 and 3.8 cars, with other engines getting it later. the 3.1 LH0 and 3100 L82 recieved it in 1993. in 1994, PWM torque convertor operation was implimented in all but the 3.1 LH0 cars.
only in 1996, the 4t60e-hd was installed in the larger L67 cars, and it still retained all of the normal controls that all 4t60e transaxles had until this point, allowing for a stronger transaxle to be installed in earlier cars without much finesse. i'm not sure if there are mounting differences, but those could be worked with.
during the entire production run, all 4t60e's have had 2 shift solenoids and a vacuum modulator. luckily that modulator interchanges with a lot of other GM hydra-matic transmissions, allowing us to use an adjustable vacuum modulator meant for a TH-350 and will allow changes in shift firmness. to change shift points, computer tuning is required. all but the 93-95 3100 PCMs have been documented and will allow for shift point, torque convertor lock/unlock changes. some of the PCMs with PWM TCC apply and release have those tables discovered as well.
