    gtp vs. dakota r/t

so my brother has a sweet 03 r/t, bought it brand new, has added few to things to up the HP. K&N, msd, complete gibson exhaust, and its chipped. he might have a total of 25 extra horses, not sure tho.

but since i bought my gtp the truck stays in the garage so we met up the other day and found ourselves at a light, so naturally the brotherly love left and in came the competitive assholes. Come green light we didnt hit so we wouldnt spin but at a 10 mph roll put the pedal down going up a bridge, he never pulled ahead of me and i got to about 75 mph before i let off. YES!!! i beat his "superfast truck". but no my older brother couldnt give the satisfaction, his truck aint running right cuz it sits too much and he didnt even hit the gas, etc etc...Now i will give him it sits too much to be at top performance but to say he didnt try when i was at 70 and he was still there says he knew we were in it.

i would like to know what would win there for real. cuz i think his truck stock is at like 240-250 hp and im not exactly sure what has been done to the gtp before i had it i think the u-bend is gone if it had one, but i know i got a stock pully, i think?

unless you run up against a Sy/Ty, certain F-150 Lightnings, and maybe the SRT-10 Ram, you should have no problem keeping up with or winning against a truck, even lightly modded ones...

I'm gonna have to disagree. There are many many trucks that HAUL out there, I'm thinking theres quite a few that wouldn't have a problem with a GTP.

    Interesting race though!

dead stock 85 TA pulls a flat 15, even with the damn 700r4 instead of a 5 speed.

There isn't any way that a 92 Firebird with a 5.0 5 speed will EVER see high 13s stock. Even 93-97 LT1s have problems hitting high 13s, and they usually can't hit them stock. 5.0s are good for at best a high 14, but that would surprise me.

Swift, is something wrong with the GTP? You should have been able to take him pretty easily unless he's done something else to his truck. The Dakota RTs are rated at 245hp and 335 ft lbs of torque stock. Trucks have a major disadvantage because they way more. Don't worry though that you didn't beat him. All you need to do is throw some rockers on the GTP and drop a pulley size and then you'll waste him like he's nothing.

    Re: gtp vs. dakota r/t

Yeah, those dakota's aren't really that fast. I have raced them before. I was shocked at how slow it was for all the hype.

As far as fast rucks, yeah there are some. Diesels can move pretty well. Add a tuner and they flat out move until the tranny craps on them. A buddy of mine is putting down 1,100 lb ft of tq out of his 05 Chevy Dmax. You wanna see some really embarrassed people at the track. That will do it. Esp if he does a 4WD launch. He is gone before they figure out what happened.
