Replacing rear quarter window, 1st gen regal 2 door

When I got my Regal the driver side quarter window, next to the back seat was replaced with flimsy ass plexiglass because somebody broke the original out, theres still shards sticking out of the window frame. Also, it has nothing to hold it in place, and now it's cracked in half. So, how do I go about removing one of these out of a junkyard car, and installing into my car? What hold it in place?

    Thanks.

they are a major pain in the ass to pull out, they are glued in and i think have a few retaining tabs too.

best advice i can come up with is wait till you have a REAL hot day or a heatgun and soften up the glue with that. and get one of those long handled razor blades that auto glass places use and work it out. patience will be key here.

I've replaced those rear windows before in other cars, not something I care to do again.

as for the glue to hold them in, some auto parts stores will carry tubes of 3M windshield adhesive, last time I bought some it was about $15 for a tube of it and it fits into a standard caulking gun.

I bought my first lumina with a broken window.

IIRC-The guy that helped me do it used some sort of cable to cut through the glue.

I would have a glass shop do it thought since it should be pretty cheap.

Though access to these tools in a different story, the process is easy. I know, I've done a bunch at school, including my Z34. The first knife tool is pnuematic and vibrates very fast to cut through urethane. The second is the "Equilizer". Primarily used for windshields, it can be used for 1/4 glass. As for those clip things, when you get your trim off, you'll see that they unclip very simple-like, once the urethane is cut. IF you could get your hands on either of these tools, it will be way easier than just piano wire or any hand tool.

    600! HOLY SHIT.

Yeah, screw that. I'd imagine I could cut the urethane with a box cutter, and a little patience? I do not have access to those tools, let alone the ability to use them in a junkyard. This doesn't have to be perfect looking, just get me through the winter. I don't wanna get snowed on here.

Screw the junkyard car, I'll cut and bend my way to getting the glass out, and I can by windshield urethane. It's just a matter of putting my car back together without jacking everything up.

Just the plastic stuff surrounding the window itself. It goes up the B-pillar and sail panel. As far as the cutting goes, your next best bet is some piano wire, two vice grips, and a friend to help.

Do you have full coverage? My buddy got his replaced for free. The shop even covered the copay and came and replaced it at his apartment.
