Has anyone tried bolting DOHC heads onto a 3400?
If possible, would there be any advantage?

i don't think it can be done. oil passages may or may not be there, i'm asumeing that you'd remove the cam and instal the dummy shaft. and somehow try to route the belt to run the cams. i don't think it can be done.
Soneone on 60*V6 put the LQ1 heads onto his Aluminum bowtie 3.4 Block. There was a lot of things that didn't line up.

Really , there wouldn't be any advantages to that... the nice thing about the 3400 block is that is a roller cam , and if your using a dummy cam in it's place... there is no point.
The other nice thing about the 3400 is it's heads, but once again , if your just going to use the DOHC heads.....
I had a 3.4 lq1 head next to a 3.1 head a couple years ago, the coolant passages, oil passages and lifter vally are all very different

I dont see it working. That being said if it did, i honestly could see some advantages....
2003 Monte Carlo
3400 V6

For the 1st time in my life I see the car as MUCH more of an appliance than a fun thing.
I wanted 2 figure out how to put pushrods into 3.4 heads....it was a nice thought, aint no way it's gunna happen though

I was wondering about coolant/oil passages... I wasn't sure exactly how different the blocks where between the two. (LH0 or LA1 etc vs. LQ1)
I couldn't really see an advantages either I guess.. just wondering if it could be done. Started off wondering if you could throw them on a 3.1 or 2.8 block but at least the 3400 has the same bore...
