Ok, so here's the problem I've recently run across. Sometime in the past couple days, I've lost 3rd gear in my 4T60E equipped 95 CS 3100. What it does is at the point where it should shift into 3rd gear, it just stays in 2nd. I can push 2nd gear to 3500 RPMs and back off the throttle and it'll go into 4th, so that gear works, and the TCC locks up no problem. What's going on here? No strangle noises coming from the trans, and the fluid level is where it should be and the same color as the day I put it in. Also, no SES codes being thrown.
In a related incident, back in the summer on certain *extremely* hot days, my car would fail to shift into 4th gear and just stay in 3rd. Also had intermittent trouble with the TCC clutch not locking up. All functions would return to normal after a couple hours of being allowed to cool down, but that's not the case this time. I haven't had 3rd gear for about 4 days.
So, is it time for a new transmission, or is all of this related to a failing Trans. Shift Solonoid? Any other ideas? Please give me good news
Edit: Just realized I put this in the General forum. Maybe a Moderator could move it to Powertrain? Thx.
