Hi guys the cutlass has been running good except one small problem. When ever this car sits for more than a couple hours like overnight it is difficult to start. I have to crank it over a few times and it will finally come to life. All the tune up stuff has been adressed and other than this it runs great. When it does act up it acts like it has no fuel or its starving for gas and once it has enough it fires up and runs with not even a stumble.BTW no codes either.

leaking fuel injectors? Rather than cranking it so long, try turning the key to run and wait for the fuel pump to stop, then turn the key.

Carboned up fuel injectors?? My 88 regal is like that. Except, when mines cold, it starts up after 1.5-2 turns.

Mewonders if you have changed the fuel filter can with the tune up, if so check fuel pressure at that rail cold when the problem usually occurs

I good fuel pressure gauge could be very helpful..........between a check ball in the tank, injectors, and the regulator there is quite a few places that can bleed fuel pressure back down.

If you can......use a ohmmeter to measure the reistance of the ECT sensor......I've seen them get "stuck" at a warm temprature, causing the PCM to react differently. I'm trying to remember if your motor (I assume a 2.8) has a seperate sensor for the gauge or not like the "small port" 3100s.

It's getting colder... check your battery. Last summer our van was acting similar, turned out to be the starter.

What motor do you have?,(3.1 or 3.4 i belive) I know that GM has a service bullitin that deals with poor idle, hesitation, and stalling. there is a PCM reprogram from GM to deal with this. I cant remember exactly what motors were affected, but i think it was the 3100. I do not know if this is a recall, or just a bullitin, i can check into it. My dad is a GM tech, and has all the info.

If its something that doesn't deal with safety...........it isn't a recall.

It cranks over just fine no trouble there.fuel pressure shouldbe ok since it runs good.also ive replaced the module twice and the coil packs once.and it blows the fuse the the coil module when it cranks and wont start after it blows another fuse. when the module was replaced it was ok then it did it again after about 5 months what would cause the module to short out?

Yeah, that's a bullitin. The injectors get clogged up occasionally, causing long or hard starts, chuggle, stalling, hesitation, and an idle speed that will randomly go from idle (about 800rpm), to like 2000rpm, and back down again.
