95 Cutlass supreme vs Dodge Shadow

He beat me, I couldn't believe it!!! Until I looked under the hood and saw the 3.0l and a turbo fit snuggly next to it. This thing was quick. I did some research and found that they actually made a stock turbo shadow. They are super rare, and this 17 yr old punk (actually a firend of mine, and he is pretty cool) found one sitting in a junk yard. Intack no less. Anyways, he did a little work to it, and made it into one hell of a sleeper. If you are ever in st charles, "Beware the Shadow!!!"

Besides maybe the Stealth and 3kGT.. I think they used the 3.0, right?

sorry, I meant 2.5L. They did make a turboed version in 89.

Shadow Turbo's arent that rare, and if it was a 2.5 turbo I'm not surprised it wooped you up. Those things are SUPER light with a good bit of HP stock. It's a 13 second car with very little work.

I used to have an '89 Shadow ES sedan. It had a 5spd and a 2.5L Turbo engine. I put the bigger turbo and radiator/intercooler from my Shelby Lancer, and 3" exhaust on it. At 14 psi, it waxed an '01 Saleen S281 (non SC) here in town. It weighed about 3000 lbs.

My friend just picked one up.. drove 400 miles round trip for it over to connecticut. We went to the junkyard two days ago and there was a turbo New Yorker sitting right there :lol: the yard is less than a mile from his house :smilielol: After we got over how much that sucked (or how funny it was to me) we went ahead and pulled the wiring harness and injectors because he needed them.. turns out I think he said it was an '89 car and had some extra piece of shit computer thing that we left behind..

to bad too. another setback, and $50 wasted :? car was supposed to be crushed that day but his dad's friend's with the owner of the yard and he had them put it aside while we pulled the harness. we haven't checked to see if it's still there.

He WANTS to put it in his '94 5 speed Caravan, but there's only one other guy that's been known to do the swap. The turbo vans were only first gens from the factory, his is second gen, so he's going to have a hell of a time with wiring and computers and such...

y is it car companies have to do things like kill off 2.5 turbo....a list of great cars & engines that have been axed just starting in 1990:
the dodge turbo 4(yes they brought it back, but just imagine if they kept bulding on it....)
Dodge Stealth----its a good long leap from the SRT-4 if your someone who wants your car to have something resembling lux features up to the $50 k+ SRT-6 & viper....
now that i own one.....the Ford SHO.....think about how fast that car was for its time especially for a sedan....
the MN-12 chassis...they sold alot of those cars and had enough trim levels that you could spend the appropriate amount of money for your taste & budget...
LQ-1 engine...GM axing it and not deciding to mod it set them back a long time in the dohc market....
H.O. Quad 4.....why doesnt GM currently have a 4 cyl. that can compete w/ celica gt-s, rsx type s, sentra spec v, etc etc. I know the Cobalt is in the works, but still.....ya gotta figure the competitiors engines have more potential.
1st gen w bodies: think about it, you could keep distinction among top level cars: tgp---keep modifying it, z34---modify the lq1, and you have a very cheap fast people mover, cutlass----convt. what more can ya say, and the regal, which i think if done right, could have a pushrod v8 and still not outclass the others too bad and be done as a lux. car....and those cars had style, unlike today's w bodies

i've been debating picking up this old 4 door turbo new yorker around my place for a beater, strip the turbo badges and build it up a little bit :twisted: nothing says "grandpa kicked your ass" like a tan new yorker with wire spoke hub caps :lol:

:lol: :lol: :lol: yeah they are fast my friends girlfriend had one in highschool and she liked messing around with all the riceboys and racing them. the memories of those rice boys faces dropping from smiles to frowns in a matter of seconds is something i will remember for years to come

Slight honor regained. I raced a 92 shadow last saturday, and won. Not by much, but I did win. It is not a turbo, and he has some wierd exhaust tip, oh, and stickers, which i believe add at least 10 hp.

sounds like you raced a Shadow with a 3.0 V6. that said, good kill - i know my 3.1/5-speed Cutlass would certainly lose against a 3.0 Shadow, ecspecially if it had a 5-speed. if you raced a Shadow with a NA 2.5 you would have murdered it.

Yeah my grandpa has a n/a 4cyl Shadow and its slow as shit. It really makes me want to drive a turbo and see the night and day difference :shock:
