Z34 Vs 98 eclipse spyder

my friend has a auto 98 eclipse and a havea 92 auto z34 (i know i wish i had the 5speed) but anyways he alwasy talks about racing on I44 so im dringin behind him aobut 80 and he starts tapping his brakes, i pull inot the other lane and start to accelerate, he immediatly smashes the gas and accelerates, no to look like a bitch i floor it and easily pass him and get about 2 car lengths ahead, my front quarter panel was even with his bumper when we started but i easily pass him and then pull in front of him and slow down to get to my exit, he does the fly by and says the only reason i passed him was becuase he had one more person in his car than i did

to bad i knew the kid and knew it wasnt the next car i mgiht race is a 1991 2.0 eclipse 5speed with a gutted cat and exhaust, i think i got a good chance to take him even if i only have an automatic

I could be wrong.. I think the turbo Eclipses are GSX and the turbo Talons are TSi. Is there a GSi?

GSX = AWD & Turbo, no spyders were GSX
GS-T = Turbo

when did they begin production of the spyders? they came out when the axed the boosted cars right? a friend of mine had a 98/99 Eclipse GSX, bought it brand new when we graduated HS, holy shit that car was fast.

Hmmm... GSi its a mixture of an eclipse and a talon. 8)

Spyders came out for the 2nd Generation DSM (not sure of the actual year), but you could get a boosted GS-T Spyder if you wanted, just not the AWD...

2g spyders came out in 97...the new 3g style started in 00...they now come with a 3.0L V6 or a 2.4L I4 which is what was in the 97+ spyder GS's....my friend has a 98 spyder and he made 250whp on a 14b and heatsoaked stock intercooler...that car is pretty quick...easily low 13s...its just too bad they didnt make awd spyders....the n/t 2.4L 4g64 motor blows ass and the car weighs an assload...

yeah i got it confused with the TSi and GS"X"

but AWD and turbo can make for some pretty quick cars..

i know a first gen TSi that has a blow off valve that sounds like mini jet engine. i think it helps he's got a bigger intercooler and turbo...

oo did i mention 5-speed?

the exterior is bone stock too...i think thats why i like it.

not too many 1g's that have exterior mods...most just lowering and tasteful wheel choices...they dont really look too great to begin with so thats why us DSMers keep the ext mods limited on the 1g's....they are fast as hell so it makes up for it...i have a friend that ran 12.1 on the stock turbo in his 91 TSi with stock suspension(it like did wheelies when he launched) My 92 TSi just has a really nice suspension setup and 98 GSX 17'' rims on it...the rest is plain except for whats hidden under the hood :twisted: but then again its not really hidden if you can hear it spooling from a few blocks away is it?
